Early week intervals deplete the weekend endurance ride

First time posting after a couple years of use. I race XCO so my training plan tends to put in a lot of vo2 efforts as expected. I do intervals 3 days a week, (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), with a short endurance ride on Wednesday and a longer endurance ride on Sunday. Tuesday and Thursday are usually vo2 and Saturday usually threshold or similar. The pattern that has emerged though is after Thursday’s ride, Saturday usually becomes easier and then after Saturday, the Sunday ride adapts to be 45min instead of 1hr 45min or 2 hours. It’s as if the software isn’t realizing that almost every week it’s starting off hard enough that I’m never getting to do the endurance work because it’s always adapting to be short and easy by then.

Hopefully this is something the look ahead / pre-emptive changes the new TR ai platform will address.

How are you rating the workouts? My best guess would be that the TR algorithm thinks your three interval sessions are taxing you to the point where you need more of a rest on the weekends.

When you have the new version of the AI, you’ll have a lot of tools that allow you to play with your schedule and try to get something workable. Hope it helps!
