Early Access to iOS Beta: Updated TrainerRoad

A request please in relation to trainer resistance settings - not sure if this has been mentioned before, and I found this is 91930 (so not the latest build listed yesterday). It would be great if you could do 2 things:

  1. Persist the trainer resistance settings across workouts. At the moment, the resistance for my Neo defaults to 60 every time.
  2. Let me select the resistance level before switching from Erg to Resistance mode. At the moment, I have the make the switch, slam to a halt because the resistance defaults to 60 when I need it around 20, and furiously try to grab the slider before my legs stop turning

A problem I’ve had a few times is if I backspin for an extended period (> 1 minute) the power reading from my Vector 3s doesn’t come back when I start spinning forward and therefore my power reading remains at 0. I have to mash a lot of buttons to try and fix it but I think the main solution has been to disable/enable bluetooth and try to repair the power meter.

i tried to replicate this with my own vectors today and didn’t run into any issue. Just wondering if youve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the beta app at any point since you noticed it? When you pedal forward do you get a 0 cadence reading as well or is there cadence but no power?

Cadence but no power, yes. I’ll try to reproduce it some time when I’m not suffering in the middle of a workout

I am not sure if this is an iOS beta bug or plan builder bug.

My iPhone is running iOS beta software. I can create a new plan building plan without any issues.

Using a web browser or my iPad (running public release TR software) plan builder allows me to go through all the steps to create a plan and then gives me the error “oops something went wrong” when it is applying the new plan to the calendar.

Not going to lie - I am here only to look for group rides on iOS. When is this being released?

I have downloaded Test Flight and updated the TR app per TF opening screen.

Love the product, can’t wait.

Please… and an ERG/Resistance hot key in iOS. Please,…

I have a couple of quality of life improvement suggestions.

  1. export to apple health. Right now I have to upload to strava, then use rungap to send it back to my apple health. It seems like that could be streamlined.
  2. It would be nice if I could put the app into picture in picture mode. Right now I can keep trainer road on the big screen, and netflix or whatever on the small screen, but I can’t flip it. I’d rather have the option to see the show big, and the intervals small.

Question - does the beta version include ePM? Or Powermatch 2.0(whichever it’s called)

Yes, it does!

I find your #2 interesting @the1gofer. How often do you use picture in picture mode? I agree with your assessment but never tried it since I use the iPad for TrainerRoad and the Apple TV for entertainment. I will try this as well. I find the same issue when syncing to Apple Health. My watch takes time to update for activity rings having to go from TR to Strava to Health. Thank you for sharing!

In the past I’ve had issues using the beta app on my iphone, so I’ve gotten in the habbit of using my ipad for everything. So lately I’ve been wanting the PIP more and more. I was thinking about getting a bigger screen and apple tv, but it doesn’t make much since if I’m going to end up not being able to use it full screen for whatever I’m watching.

I noticed that the Beta version hides the iPad menu bar on top. However, this bar contains useful information that is not shown in the app, like time, WiFi connection and battery percentage. Would be nice to keep showing this at the top.

I totally agree with @mrpedro! And… please please please move the summary after a section on iPad to another part of the screen, now it’s blocking the instruction text. It’s my biggest annoyance, because I now miss vital cadence instructions.

I know it was mentioned somewhere upthread, but it’s getting very long now … does the iOS Beta have Live FTP reporting for the ramp test yet?

Asking because I did a ramp test this morning (on iPad) and didn’t see it…

Yes, swipe middle view pane to the data page and it shows on the top left field. At least it has on the iPhone beta build for awhile now (my last 2 tests I think).

Last two ride it dropped connection with my Bluetooth Wahoo HR monitor. Using IPhone XR. Other than that it’s been smooth sailing.

Cool thanks - didn’t occur to me to do that, I thought it would show on the default screen. Will have a look next time.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback everyone. :raised_hands: We’re still actively investigating some issues and definitely always taking feedback, so please keep it coming. In this newest version we have quite a few fixes in, and have some more in the works. Please let us know if you have been having any problems with backgrounding or if the app gets stuck in anyway (especially on the lower-specced devices). Thanks!

Here’s a quick rundown of what was in this latest release.

    •	Replaced the sync banner in Calendar view with a loading spinner
•	Fixed a problem where an account name could get into a bad state under Account
•	Fixed a problem where ending time could be clipped on some devices
•	Fixed a problem where sometimes it would be impossible to log back in after a crash
•	Added the Outside TR Icon to the Workout Cards
•	First round of VocieOver improvements were implemented
•	Fixed a problem where Training Plans could show 0 for Hours and TSS
•	Added logging for various problems and crashes we were seeing mainly on older devices
•	Fixed a problem showing specific blocks in Plan Builder
•	Added additional logging & improvements for the backgrounding issue
•	Fixed a problem with an endless spinner occasionally showing when processing account.
•	Fixed a problem with Wheel Circumference showing incorrectly during setup.
