nice! subscribed for the beta too. Hopefully with the complete new app, I won’t have BT issues on my S10 anymore (connection with the my kickr core just stops when BT is enabled…)

Unusable on Pixel 3a: Workout player is just a blank screen. Uninstalled. Seems more like Alpha than Beta at present.

NB I’d forgotten how many steps the TR app goes through when installing, as it pulls all the Calendar / Workout / Plan data etc, which makes switching back to the Production app from the Beta a time-consuming process - don’t attempt this when you’re just about to start a workout else you’ll be pulling your hair out…

After clearing cache and data in settings, workouts now load.

As noted above, no ANT connection ability

After pausing workout, pedal to resume doesn’t seem to be working. Also the “resume workout” play icon and end workout button spill over the edges of the screen.

Erase the app data on your phone and restart the beta app, and after that you should be able to load the workout. That seems to fix a lot of glitches initially reported here.

Shoot, if you can’t do ANT+ i can’t test this as my power pedals are ANT+ only :frowning:

App took approximately 15 secs to load calendar.
Failed to load today’s workout (Dans) just a black screen of death left it to load for around 5 minutes but no joy. Backed out of app.
Cleared app cache.
Reopended app (quicker) searched for Dans in workouts but again wouldn’t load up.
Gave up and did it from memory recording on wahoo element bolt instead.
Took about 5 mins for ride to appear in calendar, successfully associated it with Dans which then vanished as today’s workout.

Thank you to everyone who took the plunge and went through the trials and tribulations so far! We really appreciate the time and the effort required. All the reports are extremely helpful, and I apologize for all the problems that some of you have been experiencing.

It seems like there are a few different issues going on and we want to get to the bottom of a few of them before we continue to add testers to the Closed Beta.

I’ll keep the thread updated and we’re going to prioritize fixing the Sync issue that some of you are experiencing, and figure out the problem that stems from updating the old Production version to the current Closed Beta.

Clearing the app cache may not be enough to solve the issues, try erasing all the app data, and then reopen the app. That may aolve a lot of the issues.

Did Carter using the beta this morning. Seemed to lose connection to both my trainer and my HR strap around 20 minutes in - so possibly a Bluetooth glitch on my phone rather than a TR issue. Readings for both Power and HR froze. When I went into Device settings in the app, it reported that both were still connected. I had to end the workout, then exit the app, restart it and start the workout again for trainer and HR strap to connect properly - then it was fine for the rest of the workout.

If you clear app data (or uninstall and reinstall) on a pixel 2 running android 11 if you leave the screen on the calendar while it syncs it will scroll up to older workouts as they load in a rather odd way. If you try to scroll down and look at something it steals focus from you and scrolls up. After several minutes of this the app will hard crash. Reopening the app and letting the sync continue eventually results in a usable app. I have not been able to try the workout player yet, we got a random streak of 70 degree days in Michigan in November so I am outside as long as possible.

“Back” button to exit plan phase not working.

  • click hamburger
  • click Training Plans
  • click Base Phase
  • pressing Android “Back” button does nothing
  • must click “<” in upper left corner to exit

I can also confirm that clearing Storage and Cache for the app in the Android settings fixed the workouts not loading. Will be attempting my first workout with the app tomorrow morning, so wish me luck!

I’ve experienced some of the black screen issues mentioned above but got it working once I cleared cache.

Question: are there actually any new features?? Or does it just look prettier? Only thing I’ve noticed so far was the Time Of Day on the workout screen.

When I filter workouts by “custom” it shows my custom workouts plus many other workouts that are not mine…

I have to agree here. It seems to be just a “pimped up” version of the previous.

I was under (maybe mistakenly) that the new app would provide the ability to analyse workouts from within the app, but you still need to go externally to the web based version to do so.

Did my first workout with the beta, and it was almost flawless!

  • :tada: I heard the audio cues for interval changes and instructional text! I’ve never heard those on the phone before! They’re great!
  • :tada: Share to Instagram worked like a champ.
  • :tada: In the rest interval after the warmup, I used the TR app to do a spin-down calibration (for my Elite Suito). I didn’t pause or anything. Worked great.
  • :tada: Is the cadence line new? I don’t remember seeing the white line in the graphs on Android before, that was cool.
  • :tada: THE ROUNDING ERROR IS FIXED
  • :bug: The app crashed after the workout ended and synced. When I started it back up again it seemed fine, and I didn’t seem to be missing any data.
  • :bug: Loading my workout the first time gave me a three-minute workout with a weird profile that I should have screenshotted but did not. I backed out and hit the ‘refresh’ button on the main calendar page, and then loaded the workout again. It was fine the second time.
  • The text seems to have gotten smaller across the board? I run TR on my phone and it sits a little over an arm’s length away, and I had to squint to read the smaller labels (like the workout milestone timestamps, the name of the workout, the estimated end time, etc.). Even the instruction text and main data fields seemed a bit smaller than before.

I’ve noticed new features in the beta:

*Fully functional calendar - can add workouts, training plans, activities, annotations. On prod version, Calendar can only read/edit current annotations and load currently scheduled workouts.

*Quick actions when you tap “devices” - calibrate, trainer mode erg/resistance switch, PowerMatch options - I really like this!

I’m sure there are more that I haven’t found yet

What error was that?

On Android, fractional power targets always rounded down. For example, at my 210 FTP an interval at 65% would be a power target of 136.5. On the website and in the desktop app, that would get rounded up to 137; on Android, down to 136. It doesn’t actually matter, except it meant the TSS and IF figures for completed workouts were always slightly below the targets at the end of the workout, and that kind of thing drives me batty. Here’s an example, where what should have been a 200W interval (210*.95 = 199.5) was actually a 199W interval in the app:

It’s been fixed in the desktop app for about a year, but it’s been broken on Android since at least February 2019.
