Had a Dynamic Endurance set for Sunday, max 5hr… was giving me 4hrs. Weather doesn’t look good… know I am not doing 4hrs, plus I won’t back home until afternoon. So I edited it to ‘max 3hrs’, then it gives me Walker (2.25hr) ?!? Weird, figured it was cuz I had changed today’s short vo2max intervals into ones that are a hair longer. However if I set the max setting back to 5hrs like the rest of my Sunday endurance, it sets it back to the 4hr workout?! So in the scheme of my training plan long term, want to have 4-5hr+ rides (training for a 240mile gravel)… it is either messed up, or maybe it is scaling this long ride thinking that my longest ride ever goal is 3hrs…so 2.25hr is fine for now cuz I have many weeks to reach my race? Ignoring that 5hrs is my max in the coming weeks?
(edit) Funny enough I tried setting it to 3:30hr limit… it gave me a 3:30 ride! 4hr… gives a 4hr ride! Hates 3hr rides i guess! lol Weird because there are a ton of workout options that are 2.5, 2.75,3hr!
In my opinion if you don’t have time for that 4hr ride, maybe its a travel week etc but I know I have 2 or 3 hr… shouldn’t it then just cap you at that and give you a good workout of that new max? (likely a hair higher % of FTP, maybe just a bit of low tempo , etc)? yes I know I can pick a 3hr workout from the workout selector… but the user interface and such is all setup to do what I expect it to do. Just like when I edit my normal 1.25hr Thursday ride to be 1hr… I expect it to now select a 1hr ride that is ‘appropriate for me and my training’ with the new 1hr limit.
Yes you can look at my plan/calendar and comment/share/ridicule …
Definitely overthinking it.
I do believe that if you set it to “max X” then it will build towards X not just max you out as soon as you can technically handle it.
If you have a 4 hour outdoor solo dynamic endurance ride, and can only do 3 hours.
Then do 3 hours. No manipulation of the calendar necessary.
TR will see what you did and base your future workouts on what you did regardless of what you changed the intended prescription of the day to.
Yeah no doubt - just want TR to know there is def a issue in the handling of dynamic endurance 3hr rides it seems. Posted before I knew it wasn’t my current workout that effected it specifically. (the edit about raising/lowering time testing)
But, soon as you cut out time in a planned workouts on calendar… AI triggers a failed workout, (even if they say ‘time’ as a failure reason doesn’t"… and my workouts start getting even weirder more ‘reduced’. Just would prefer it to be a plan that fits, adjust as needed, do the work, work is analyzed and workouts stay similar the next few days. Figure less anomalies and unknown inputs fed into the magic box… the better LOL
Honestly, half the time if my weekend dynamic endurance ride is far off I’ve just left it, otherwise just outright deleted it, and not really seen it make any significant change to my plan or to the detection number.
You didn’t tag any of the TR team here. If you want them to know something, tag them. They can’t be expected to read every forum post/thread. That’s not what the forum was set up to do.
They seem to patrol the software forum section pretty well, really they seem to post in most threads. But not quite sure why TR-Eddie’s response is not showing… but he looked into it, i do have a 3hr ride planned now. hmm, this morning with new FTP update acceptance… now it has a 3hr ride planned. So… must have been some issue with waiting for my last hard workout of the prediction cycle, or just waiting for the update date, or… just good ol’ AI doing mysterious things.
