Correct, but you are already paying for that. Listen, I get it, at the individual level, it seems insignificant. But this is HUGE, TR understands it well. They have groomed their customers well and they will make them work for free. Kudos to them!
This is so confusing. So TR becomes better, therefore it must be free?!
And TR should PayPal us $1 for each workout we submit
To me it seems like those little assessments here and there are only a tiny bit of the bigger thing. After all the AI&ML seems to already work quite well even though the input wasnāt available yet on a bigger scale. So the teaching the team has done in the past years seems to have been good for a lot, right?
What would you suggest is the solution for us customers? We donāt pay them anymore and they eventually end up being forced to sell our data to generate cash? Basically Strava 2.0?
I also agree with @hdas . @hdas only expressed it better. By labelling activities, I am giving something to Trainerroad they need to run their business.
Until now I gave money and data and got access to the training plans and workouts in return.
With adaptive training I am giving money and labelled data and I get access to the training plans and a couple of queries on the predicted workouts.
In my view, the labeled data is more valuable than the queries.
In summary, it is about whether you feel you are treated fairly. A complex issue.
a discount.
A discount? LOL count your blessings that Nate is a self admitted bad businessman and didnāt hike the price
This thread has somehow gotten worse. Iām impressed.
Now Iām wondering. In your opinion, how should TR monetize their bling new ML model?
It seems to be. What would you expect TR to do now? Cancel the subscription fees and pay us for labeling our workouts? How would they then cover their costs? Selling our data seems to be the only option for that scenario.
One could reasonably argue that AT is giving you an improved product for the same price as a lesser product. Same effect.
You are joking? Labeling the efforts costs you 5 seconds at best. Letās assume you do 30 workouts per month. Thatās 150 seconds. Letās also assume you get paid 10,000 Euro a month for 160 hours (decent job). 62,5 per hour. 0.017 Euro per second. Thatās a 2,60 Euro monthly discount.
Would that do the trick for you? Would you then also be willing to face a price increase as you now have access to a way better product? Letās say 5 Euro per month?
No one can tell what purposes the model is used for in the future.
Two examples that come to mind:
- If users want to use the model for their personal plan, they have to pay more.
- The model can be used to classify workouts without a survey. Users who pay more donāt have to label the model.
Etc.
So TrainerRoad follows Strava in the pursuit of becoming the ultimate money burning machine? Stonks.
A simple solution to make sure nobody uses your data without paying you: create your own training plan and do it offline, and donāt post about it
I do not know what exactly are you referring to but in Europe this kind of salary is only earned by a very small minorityā¦
If you get paid half of that gross, I would say it is already a pretty damn good salary that puts you well above average
I referred to hansdampf who suggested he should get a discount for labeling his workouts (adaptive training).
My example tried to highlight that even if one earns a decent salary and would do a lot of workouts, it would only result in 2.60 Euro per month.
However, I agree, 10k allows for a good life in Europe. Guess the easy numbers I have picked allows everyone to scale it for themselves. 4k and 15 workouts equals 52 cents for instance sake.
I understood what you meant I just wanted to make sure that for the record, people do not get the impression that salary is the norm!
I guess it depends where in Europe you live and what you do for a living. Working in London in Finance or Munich in Automotive would certainly make it more achievable. Not so much Romania and Diary products.
With the taxes, I feel like youād have to make 10k just to get by. Now I could see why someone would get upset about Ā£2.60
