Dropping intensity mid-workout - effect on ai FTP?

Honestly, not the most important issue in the world. But I’ve got an hour and 20 minutes left…

Got a hell of a cold, just not feeling the urge to destroy myself on the recommended workout (Wolfjaw -3).

Dropped down to 95%.

How much does an adjustment like this mid-workout ramify in the AI? Does it just mess with the next recommended workout, or does my PL take a hit?

You won’t get your full PL credit for the workout but you will not be “punished” or anything like that.

It won’t effect your AI FTP because unlike progression levels that aims to represent actual fitness.

We look at each situation on its own, but generally speaking, it’s totally fine to lower the intensity if you aren’t feeling it on the day. Depending on a few things, you might not get Progression Level credit for the workout, but you’re still getting the work done, and we’re recognizing that.

If you’re unwell and struggling, I’d probably recommend ditching the workout and resting or doing a recovery workout if you absolutely must.

Thinking long-term is key with endurance training! :chart_increasing:

Yeah I finished the workout at 95%, had a little left in the tank.
But that’s fine.
Even before finishing I was thinking about not being destroyed for the next workout!

That sounds okay to me.

It’s good to be prudent, and if what you’re doing feels like it’s going to destroy your consistency throughout the rest of the week, then it might be wiser to dial things back to ensure you can stay on track. :+1:
