Does using TR with PowerMatch via Bluetooth drain my bike’s power meter battery faster than with ANT+?

I’m using a Bluetooth USB adapter with my PC and a USB extension cord to place the Bluetooth adapter right next to my crank.

I’m using PowerMatch with a Quarq DZero power meter.

It seems to drain the battery after 60 - 80 hours. I should be getting about 200 hours of use.

Hey there!

The PowerMatch processing takes place completely within your computer; the power meter simply provides an input. For that reason, PowerMatch should not play a factor in your power meter’s battery life.

That being said, it is possible that Bluetooth draws more power than ANT+. If you have an ANT+ USB stick, then you could test this by replacing the BLED112 dongle with an ANT+ dongle to see if it has a noticable effect on battery life.

Cheers,
