Was there ever a post-PFAS replacement for Shakedry? I’d want another packable emergency jacket, but don’t know the Gore “brands” anymore.

I really like thier fall/winter and incliment weather gear.

I like thier Torrent bibs, but they only did one run of them.

Patagonia Houdini is the go to in that area imo

I have a Houdini that lives in my travel backpack. It packs down super small, weighs nothing, and is perfect for travel. The only downside I can think of is that it gets very wrinkly after packing, but that doesn’t matter for outdoor exercise activities.

That deal convinced me

Latest gen Kickrs on sale for $787.49. Just ordered one with my HSA to replace my still working gen 1.

how’s this new HSA/FSA deal? Do they provide medical stuff for you or you need to go after it? I saw that a lot of new home gym equipment as well as fitness in general are now offering to use the F/HSA accounts

The Wahoo site just redirects you to the Truemed site when checking out and it asks a couple of questions and has a spot to comment on your answers. You submit it and they review it. Mine was basically instantly approved and everything went smoothly.

I’m still running the gen 1 as well. It’s… struggling. Trying to decide between the kickr and kickr core 2 (discounted through USAC).

Wahoo Kickr Shift (bike) is on sale at 25% off right now. $1900-ish. Might be worth a look.

Anyone aware of a decent deal on roval world cup wheels? Trying to soften the blow as much as possible since they are not cheap! 20% maybe more… they have been released forever ago and still haven’t showed up on their hero/pro deal program to purchase.

TrainingPeaks cyber sale. “Go all in for 2026 with TrainingPeaks Premium. Use code CYBER2025 for 25% off.”

Brands Cycle and Fitness often has 15% off coupons which work on Roval wheels. That was the best I could find a year ago when I was trying to find a discounted set of Roval wheels

I’m cross-shopping the Kickr Shift against the Zwift Ride frame + Kickr Core 2 combo available on Zwift right now.

Zwift, TrainerRoad and Rouvy would be my three apps, and I don’t know how to assess which one to go with and if the Wahoo bike is the better option for a $700 price difference.

I can only speak for the Kickr Bike… but it is amazing. I had a H3 trainer but it was a hassle getting my bike on and off. Having the Kickr bike set-up in the garage ready to go, no maintenance or wear on my bike was worth any price difference to me. Others may feel different but it was probably the best cycling related training purchase (along with TR) that I have made.

That’s good to hear. And the Shift seems to be pretty much silent:

This new drivetrain system is dead-silent. It makes zero sound whatsoever. Not pedaling, not coasting, nothing.

That definitely counts for a lot for me. I imagine the Zwift Cog and all is fairly quiet, but the notion of a truly silent belt drive setup sounds pretty good to me.

It’s what I’m leaning towards. Shifting seems more straightforward (even if I’d be using exclusively erg mode in TR), and I suspect its overall compatibility outside of Zwift is better than the Zwift Ride.

I’d wait for the Black Friday deals no matter which you choose. They’re right around the corner.

Don’t know what sales they will have Black Friday but the Kickr Swift bike is on sale through Monday 11/24. I can’t see it going on sale below $1912 (what is is now at 25% off) but you never know.

That decision basically comes down to your availabile space and your cleanliness:

The kickr shift is one solid unit. It’s heavy and can not be taken apart to a large degree. Once set up, it very likely will stay in place for a very long time. On the other hand it’s also solid in usage: little to no maintenance necessary. (From personal experience, you may want to invest in another cheap metal seatpost and clamp, as the default ones slipped a lot in my case)

The zwift ride on the other hand can be taken apart and some components can get used separately. E.g. you can use your bike on the trainer of you want to. As it has a visible chain, lubricant may also be necessary and may get thrown around the room on usage.
