Where?

from zwift

Sorry, I edited my post, but you can get it from Zwift’s official website.

Beside wax - what else is worth snagging from Silca?

I like their tools, sealant, and cleaning stuff. Plus I have one of their saddlebags with boa which lasted until I retired it because my new bikes have in frame storage.

Thanks. Bit the bullet on the waxing system.

They make nice pumps. I don’t love the Hiro chuck, but the pumps are a nice splurge product.

Silca has gotten a bit of my money over the years:

  • Wax stuff. I have their chain waxing system. It seems to be a little faster than my mini-crockpot and I like that you can set the temp and the little hanger thing. I started using the strip chip which I really like as it speeds up the process for a new chain and I don’t have to deal with all the different chemicals. These are both more expensive than alternate methods but it has made things faster and easier for me which is nice since the time I have to work on my bikes is really limited.
  • I also have their drip wax which I will use sometimes in between hot melt waxes. I have not used any other brand of of drip wax so I can’t really compare. It seems fine. A little ‘messy’ to use since it is pretty runny so a fair amount ends up on the floor. I use Synergetic on my and my wife’s commuter bikes. It’s seems fine. A little more set it and forget it than wax and is longer lasting than a lot of other ‘wet lubes.’ But it can get a bit dirty like all non-wax lubes
  • Handlebar tape. I have the 2.5 mm tape on a couple bikes. I personally find it comfortable and tacky enough (I usually ride gloveless). It’s held up longer than the Supacaz and Lizard Skins that I have used previously.
  • I got a SuperPista Digital the last time there was a big sale. It is definitely a splurge item but the pump itself is nice and much more accurate than my Specialized Air Tool Comp. The latter was annoying as I would have to pump, then switch to a digital gage to see where I was, then pump again since the PSI lines on the pump were so close together it was tough to tell the difference between say 20 and 23 PSI
  • I have pair of their aero socks. No idea of they actually save me any time. But they are comfortable and when on sale about the same price as a lot of other cycling socks out there.
  • Spa box. I was just going to buy the drivetrain cleaner and the bike wax to try out but with a sale it wasn’t much more to get the whole box so decided why not give it a go (I really like trying things). I have not had this for very long so I can’t say too much about it yet. But it did make my bike look extra nice. Minor complaint but the box does not include sprayer heads so you have to find some elsewhere (if you buy each bottle separately then you do get the sprayer heads).
  • Gear wipes. I really like these for cleaning the bike (including the chain) and they are great at getting dirt and grease off my hands as well. But someone told me they are basically the same thing as Tub-O-Towels which are half the price at a hardware store. So I got a bottle of the latter to check out and compare. But have not opened them yet since I am going to use up all the Silca ones first

Their wax drip is messy compared to others I’ve used, ceramicspeed’s is easier to apply. Silca’s seems to work okay and I can use a rag to catch the mess but it’s still a lot of waste imho.

Any Escape collective members here: how does the member purchase program work? Are the discount codes one time only for each brand or can you generate codes multiple times?

Amazon have 20% off the v3 wahoo roam and bolt

If you click on the little grey ‘i’ in the bottom right for the brand, it gives you the details for that brand.

It depends on the brand/site they are partnering with. On the partner site you click on the ‘generate code’ button which then gives you a code to use on the site. For some of them it looks like it is a ‘generic’ one that all escape members will use (and probably changes periodically). Others it gives you a unique code every time each time you click on generate code. So for example if you bought something one week from MAAP and then a couple weeks later wanted to go get another thing you’d have to click and generate to get a new code to use

I got some UFO wax this weekend sale and ufo drip, always heard they work better than silca! Will give it a try

Interesting, might need to grab some tub-o-towels! Silca says their wipes are fine to clean waxed chain, but clearly they haven’t made them themselves!
