Once again Europe gets nothing from this
Women’s summit stratos are on sale for $143, then 20% off. So diff starting price.
I wanna feel bad, but Europe “gets to have cycling.”
gah. I don’t really need more bibs right now, but 80 for Flyte bibs is too good to pass up.
I’ve never used them and I don’t need bibs and I’m thinking the same!
Pactimo jerseys never did it for me. But their bibs are absolutely top notch. I usually load up when they have their yearly sales.
How’s the fit?
How are the flyte bibs? What other bibs would you compare them too?
I have a pair of the flyte bibs and they fit similar to other brands. I’m 189cm/6’3" and weigh 80kg and I wear M. On the longer side for leg length which is a plus for me because I’m tall. They fit like a second skin. I want to say they (Flyte) are the thinnest bibs they sell. Good leg gripper.
I wear M in pretty much every bib: Specialized SL, Eliel, LaPassione.
To me they are most similar to PEARL iZUMi PRO bib shorts but more compressive. I really like the PRO bibs so it makes sense why I like these. The bib straps are soft and stretchy enough to not give an atomic wedgie like my Castelli Premio do, but they have good support and hold the pad in place. The pad isn’t bulky and works well for my narrow hips.
Even though these don’t really seem similar at all in their construction to Rapha pro team bibs, those, the pearl PROs, and the Flytes are my 3 favorite bibs at the moment. I switched from Rapha to the PROs and these because you can get the latter 2 with pockets for 1/3rd the cost of an equivalent from Rapha. I’m 6’0, about 160ish and wear a M in all of them.
Thank you. That’s super helpful. Ordered.
In general the prices are often cheaper in Europe, so I don’t really care.
Oh how I don’t need any more bibs… but $50 for more of my favorite pair? Hmm. I should not ever check this thread.
Which bibs are your favorite?
I wonder, I know different brands have 4 hour bibs, 8 hr, 12 hr, and so on. What’s the difference between these and just really good bibs like Flyte? If I could get 12, do I really not want those in favor of 4?
I just buy the best quality bibs for the lowest possible price, but it becomes confusing. For Pactimo, I went for Flyte.
I have a pair of DeSoto sports 400 mile bibs. For those, it’s really just a thicker chamois.
I have some Voler bibs that are their low end. They’re fine for a few hours but wouldn’t be a choice for anything longer. The chamois is thinner but also a little softer. I have other of Voler more expensive bibs and the chamois is thicker and a little firmer and they’re definitely better for longer rides
Ascent vectors. YMMV, but that orange chamois is perfect for me–thin and minimalist. I’ve tried their more expensive bibs and really don’t like them (chamois are relatively bigger and uh… ‘fluffy.’ I’ve relegated them to short rides like commutes.).
I have an old pair of the Vectors and they worked for short rides for me. Same for the red pads in the 12 hour bibs. The green pads seem to work a lot better for me for longer rides (3+ hours). But for $50, I don’t think there’s a better bib than the Vectors.
I’m with you. The soft bibs are fine for an hour or two tops. The firmer, denser chamois is where it’s at for long rides. It’s actually why I could never get along with Rapha bibs; the chamois was just way too soft. The Flyte use an Elastic Interface chamois but I don’t know the model off the top of my head.
If you don’t mind, can someone post a picture of the Flyte bibs? Thanks!
