Deals / Sales / Discounts for Cycling "Stuff" (2023)

I’m supposed to renew tomorrow, but old card on file, so maybe renew with the 25% off code?

Where is the Strava promo?

I’m not a Strava subscriber, and I see this on my dashboard. Maybe it’s only for people who are not currently paying?

Not a subscriber anymore and also not showing for me. Back when I canceled, I thought I would renew at the old rate, but it turns out I really haven’t missed it.

Try this link. I know you don’t want to subscribe, but I bet you’ll be eligible for the 25%.

I saw it on an IG ad that popped up in my feed….

My Strava discount came via email.

Here’s a $25 off code for USA Cycling renewals:

Not as stellar as the $49 deal, but that appears to be for new members.

I can’t renew my license right now unfortunately. Though I am glad they do a full year and not by calendar year for renewals.

Didn’t think it would work, after looking at that url you posted (note the embedded is eligible). Sure enough:

Confirmed to me by support that the 25% off will not work for current subscribers.

Silca have extended their Boxing Day sale, maybe extra 10% off. I got an email, but haven’t gone to look into the details

Also, my XTR 12 spd cassette from The Pro’s Closet arrived, and as someone said, the “open box” is just them avoiding Shimano minimum pricing rules or something. It was $250 less a $50 discount, so $199 out the door.

It’s starting to feel like Silca stuff is always on sale lol. Anyway here’s a Cane Creek EeSilk carbon post for $130. Cane Creek EeSilk Seatpost 27.2 x 350mm Carbon | The Pro's Closet

20% off full price trainers, or 15% off already discounted trainers. This makes the Tacx Neo 2T $765!

Was hoping they had a Kickr Core when I got the email, but no. I would like to pick up a second trainer to have around the house. Might pull the trigger on an Elite Suito-T for $400 though. Or a Direto XR-T for $465.

Now down to $90…that is a screaming deal.

Elite Direto XR-T is already $399 at Bike Closet.

Having picked one up for even less than that a few months ago, and now with some solid time on it, I think if I had a do-over I might get a Kickr Core. Erg mode on the Elite is atrocious, otherwise it’s been great. Smooth and quiet, power readings seem realistic.

I don’t know if I would say “atrocious”, but it definitely requires more attention than a KICKR or Cyclops. It will float a bit, either above or below the targeted wattage and you can manipulate it pretty easily just by pedaling harder, etc.

Once you learn to “trust it” it will settle in on average for the interval, but it takes a while ti understand how it works.

I personally always kinda liked it because I could “overpower” the prescribed wattage if I was feeling good…and I find the prescribed recovery wattage levels a bit too easy.

I always referred to it as “Ergistence” (or something like that) as it seemed to be more of a blend between pure erg and pure resistance mode.

Having had the original Elite Direto, then Kickr, and picked up a Direto XR, I can say that the Elite trainers are not great, but they aren’t horrible. My Kickr definitely outperforms it and I would choose the Kickr any day. But I got my Direto XR for like $100 brand new in box and have it setup at my parent’s house (visit them a lot now that they have health issues). And it’s definitely fine for training. I get the best results with erg using the small front chainring and maintaining steady pressure on the pedals, which I find easier to do at higher cadences. It doesn’t compare to the $1200 Kickr but for $400 I’d say it’s a good deal.

I’ve had both the original Direto and the XR and have never had issues with ERG. It works best at lower flywheel speeds (small chainring and upper-middle of rear cog). Have you tried the new firmware (released a month or two ago)? It smooths things out a lot.

Good to know.

It’s mostly a backup to my Kickr/for my 10 year old to ride on zwift.
