Thats what I thought as well. Had my sights set on a 2022 gen 3 trek domane sl6. Well TREK pulled a funny and re-badged bikes that had been on the floor for well over a year as 2023 Gen 3 Domane SL6 and sold them at the same price. I really thought it was BS. Whats next? a 2021 gen 4 Dodge Ram is now a 2023 Gen 4 Dodge Ram at the same price.
Lacks credibility. But then I just bought a Trek Marlin 6 Yesterday for my kid.
I don’t know if you’ve tried to buy a new car in the last few years…but it’s madness out there. I wouldn’t put it past them 
Have not tried and will not try. HOWEVER, we have consumer laws to protect us in the auto industry at this time. It would simply be fraud. Seems to be acceptable in the bike industry. If I had Bought it and not known I would have gone after them. Funny though, some of the shops in my area refused to change the year and sold them as 2022 models. I have spent more money at those stores this year because of this and have not bought one thing at the other stores that changed the model year. Bought a new Trek Marlin 6 for my son yesterday at a store that did not do the model year change game.
Surprised to see the new SS on sale given that it was just release a couple months ago
I don’t know where you are but the auto industry is gouging way more than the bike industry could ever get away with.
I was quite thankful to buy a 2021 truck and a 2021 bike, in 2021, for under retail at a time when bikes were at retail and trucks were going over retail.
Find it weird in Canada most bikes are still sold out, not available yet there are sales on those that are in stock… Not sure if there is a big wave of supply coming that they expect to exceed demand or what but it doesn’t seem to be back to the level of order in whatever colour and spec you want yet.
I never said gouging was not going on. There is nothing in the consumer protection laws about changing the price. Point was that TREK changed the model year of a product that had already been on the floor for over a year. Doing the same to a vehicle is fraud.
But then I bought a Trek Marlin 6 for my Kid yesterday during trek fest.
Sales prices are pretty much where they were a year or so ago… but inflation happened I guess.
Does anybody have any insights on when Nextie or BTLOS would have their next decent discount?
BTLOS had 12% at Easter but I wasn’t looking to buy until May/June at the earliest.
I know typical sales are Chinese NY and Black Friday. Any other obvious ones?
Many brands have sales during the grand tours. I’m not sure if the Chinese brands do, but if the competition is then they might. Worst case you contact them and let them know about the sales and see if they’ll give you a discount to keep you from buying the competitor’s product.
My observation is that these companies are just the retailers. There a separate company making the rims/wheels on the back-end that they purchase from. The discounts occur when the sales are the slowest. Your best bet to get a discount is to email them, otherwise you’ll need to wait till fall.

Some really good pricing there…just a damn shame their BB heights are so high.
BB drop (height) has been a common point of discussion regarding the Laufs. The geometry is also a bit more slack than, say, the Canyon Grizl, Giant Revolt, Salsa Warbird, etc. For those prices, and their return policy, might be worth a try, though.
