Excel Sports has the tubeless version for $47 and doesn’t charge sales tax. Cheaper than Amazon, plus your supporting a smaller business rather than a billion dollar corporation
It is the non TL version on sale not the TL version. The GP5000 is $38.95 here vs. $49.99 on Amazon.
FTFY
I was looking at the std. clincher GP 5000, not the TL version.
Big thanks for posting it! I’ve never shopped biketiresdirect before, and looks like one becomes a member by buying something. Now I plan to do just that so I’m prepared next time ![]()
Moosejaw has a 20% off coupon and they’re also an Enve authorized dealer. It applies to the Foundation wheels for me. I have bought a lot from them.
probikekit has good deals on GP5000s. I bought TLs from them.
Excellent!
I ended up buying a pair of Sidi Shots. Bike tires direct has a nice way to get a price match. You find it elsewhere at a lower price and you paste the link of the lower price, type in whatever the price is and add to cart. I use it a lot because I trust them and they ship things fast and free so it just works.
Congrats on the Foundations. I ordered some 3 weeks ago but they still haven’t shipped. I’m told Enve is behind on them.
Just a fyi REI annual sale starts May 15th which has 20% off regular priced item. Anyone in the market for a Fenix 6 series they are $150 off during the sale. No additional discount on that $150 and I love my F6X.
Great! Thanks for the info! ![]()
Curious if you had a Fenix 3 or 5 in any variation as well… I had a Fenix 3 and wore it daily for about 2 years but definitely appreciated the weight/size difference of the 935 when I changed.
I like the screen size and battery on the Fenix 6x, but wonder if it will end up being too large for me… I think it’s thinner (or similar) than the Fenix 3 was, although still heavy…
I’m usually one who upgrades with every release but kind of promised myself I’d wait for the next 9x5 watch or Fenix 7 this time ![]()
@tnordberg. I have had a 305, 735xt and a 935 before getting the 6X Sapphire and thought it might be too heavy but after a week of wearing it feels great and don’t even notice it anymore and I have relatively small wrists (6.5 inches). Bought mine in Sept 2019 via Garmin website as my work gets a good discount through health insurance.
I only take it off to charge which is not very often due to the battery. I use gps only and 1 sec recording and pulse ox set to off. A full battery in smart mode lasts around 21 days, gps only activity around 70 hours and gps with music around 18. Bonus not having to take my phone for music and one less thing to carry.
Love the screen as well and first sapphire watch. I am usually a screen protector person but has been nice to not have one. No scratches at all on screen even thought might look like in the picture due to reflections. A couple small nicks on the bezel but I wear it for everything and held up great so far.
Sorry for being long winded.
I like that face and just downloaded it for my 5x ![]()
Thanks. It is the F6 stock face but I know others have recreated it.
Not sure if it’s far superior but looks like Velonews let their article post early (before taking it down).

Looks interesting but I keep rocking my rtl510 until it dies if ever. Still waiting for a new footpod
With the rumor of the 955 coming later this year I’ll be waiting for that over getting the Fenix which is $100 more list price. Plus from everything I’ve seen optical heart rate is better when the watch is lighter as it moves around less. (83g vs 50g is a big difference)
The cost is too high to buy something that will be outdated soon so will wait with my 935 till it comes out
Fwiw: Optical works fine for me during steady state efforts and even on the bike now. Tested vs my hrm tri and relatively close and works for what I need.
Oh man, I’m excited about the light-less option. I’ve been running a cycliq camera too and the 1030 can’t gracefully run both lights simultaneously. Plus the alerts going to headphones is huge, I can start using my earpods more instead of aftershocks (voice control is baaaaad). Ordered one promptly after seeing the gplama and dcr videos in my YouTube feed, already have a tracking number from Garmin ![]()
Which one did you download? I want to give it a try too.
Hi the one I found that matches the picture ericallenboyd posted above is the Infocal watch face on the Connect IQ app. There is a process you have to go through to get the weather data on there. Easy enough but it’s not automatic.
