I hate the future
Maybe if Wout was wearing it yesterday he’d have been able to see the screw in the road and compensate for his lack of skills.
DC Rainmaker, a sports technology reviewer,
IDK… @dcrainmaker is way more than a reviewer… “influencer”, “expert”, “guru”. ?
Seems to trivialize Ray’s work IMO
See the Pro Cycling Thread
Yes. Hopefully this will drive enough traffic to Ray’s video to at least pay for the Apple Vision Pro
I’ll take ‘reviewer’. Personally, I hate ‘influencer’ as a term. I mean, undoubtedly I influence people’s decisions, but I feel like that term has been sullied by a different group of folks that take money for everything they ‘review’.
But, I’ve long-ago given up worrying about it. Thanks either way!
Break-even is realistically about 350K views (using simple math of 1M views is $10K). That math works pretty well for me on the average for the sports tech realm. Some video topics pay more (e.g. Peloton or high-end smart trainers), some topics pay less (e.g. Strava posts). Some seasons are far better (Oct-Dec), and some far worse (January-Feb).
I’m still mostly in the camp of selling it though (I don’t return bought products after reviewing them, that seems kinda wrong to me, obviously loaner products to back). In fact, I virtually never sell the products I buy either. But my accountant (my wife) is looking at this one as questionable at best. I suspect the 350K views will happen on this video, and certainly if used for various sports tech things over a year or two, it might work out. I’ll decide by the end of the month, or, if someone in Amsterdam wants to make a good offer for a…ummm…lightly used Vision Pro.
From the FIT File I guessed the 350K view == ~$3,500 to pay for the Apple Vision Pro, hence my “Hopefully this [coverage of your review / video] will drive enough traffic” comment.
Thanks for listening - appreciate it!
There’s always more than one perspective on things.
