Coming Soon: Updated Training Approach šŸšµšŸ»

Took me a long time to actually mark something 5 not it detected I turned it down or took a break and asked about a fail. Definitely a mental thing to get over. I had one the other day I was shocked it didn’t pop up the ā€œfailā€ survey before I marked it 5. So my old thought process was if it didn’t think it was a fail it must be a 4.

I do mark 1 all the time either because I just hopped on to spin my legs or trying to force the adaptations a little bit.

4 is is probably the least common for me at this point, now that I’ve accepted 5, it’s a 3 and I got through or stopped a few times and it’s a 5.

Yeah I just assume the answers aren. hugely impactful in the overall scheme of things unless you’re answering ā€œAll Outā€ or maybe a scenario where you do some hard threshold workout and mark it as ā€œEasyā€.

My opinion might be partially shaped because my coach is usually concerned with how I feel during key workouts or outlier scenarios.

On Yesterday’s podcast Jonathan mentioned needing beta testers and to send on the forum if interested. I’m interested and can beta test the new release. Please let me know.

Interested in beta test… Thnx!

best scale i’ve seen. nice one

Looking forward to the new improvements; I’ve been a TR user for four years. Product has consistently gotten better.

I can’t take credit - the words aren’t mine - I just tried to match up the numbers

I think you missed what I was saying in my post, that the change in tone in the forum, was an own self goal by TR

Yes the internal beta has been going on for months, but I would be questioning why they didn’t find these errors, yes they only added new uses at xmas, but they always had the data, the users where already TR users, the inputs haven’t changed, it’s often been said ā€œtr has all this data to prove they are rightā€

But to the adding people at xmas, 22 days they ago opened the beta and asked people to apply, 15 ago days they embarked on on the xmas sales drive, 9 days ago they realised all these edge cases, and delayed on the ā€œpromiseā€ of the 1st, and went silent ……. none of these things were forced on the them, 23 days ago there was no knowledge of what the release was going to be

Yeap that’s how software development works, and why we do beta testing, I know this, you know this …. usually release dates are set when the beta testing is complete, maybe internal targets, but not announced to the public

I’m not saying / arguimg that delaying was wrong, beta testing was wrong, I’m just saying that down turn in forum mood, is an unforced own goal by TR, by promising/hinting, advetising drive over xmas, when they didn’t need to, and the beta testing wasn’t complete, as you say ,new things have come to light after having so many people looking at it … which is the basics in testing

Also, why I have said more than once, I don’t want to be part of the beta …

Just reopened the app and despite completing all the given workouts the new ai ftp suggests if I carry on as it has prescribed I’ll drop from 245 to 220. I manually lowered my ftp to 230 as a suspension but wasn’t expecting that upon reopening and the new feature launch

I had suspected my ftp had tailed off a bit but not by 10%

Bring this over to the Beta thread and ask Nate to look into it. He’s done that and helped a lot of people understand the new functionality already.

On 1/31 AIFTP gave me 291. Today it dropped me to 276… which is in line with Garmin and TrainingPeaks, so I rolled with it.

Per Nate’s posts the new system is based on watts and doesn’t know what FTP is… so will give you a FTP number that best fits that. Are you a higher volume athlete by chance? Is your training plan set higher than balanced (i.e. demanding)?

Yeah I am on a high volume and demanding plan

I’ve just deleted the plan and reloaded one for increased ftp. 4months. Balanced approach. 5:3 workout ratio. Lowered my ftp more in line with what the future AI suggested, ((225) not 216 as system suggests in 28days but still -11% from 245). I think the system no longer being Traditional ftp based, it’s trying to increase workout ā€œwatts doneā€ (and therefore training effect) by prescribing high PL workouts at a lower ftp. :man_shrugging:

FTP still set to drop in 4 weeks though. dreading today’s 3 sisters workout but at least my ftp will decrease if I push through :laughing::melting_face::melting_face:

If you’re in the Beta, it will be one of the top topics when you open the Forum. It’s titled ā€œTrainerRoad AI Beta Testingā€. If you’re not in the Beta, you won’t see it.

Is the FTP value that it is predicting higher than the value it suggested your FTP is currently?
