Where do I purchase those cups for my own mug ?
Snyder ceramics - Etsy[Mugs from here ]
Doesn’t appear to be there. Must’ve sold out.
Sold out I expect.
They were very popular last year. If you don’t log onto the shop as they go on sale you’ll miss out.
Lots of money raised for a good cause though ![]()
Any (UK) recommendations for a half decent entry level burr grinder?
shimming the baratza’s turns a good grinder into an excellent grinder. I’m not sure why they dont just do this from the factory given the minimal cost and massive improvement in grind quality.
I shimmed and calibrated my vario and it was awesome until i got upgrade-itis
My shims just showed up today actually. I just put one in, we’ll see how it does for a cup before I hit the road this afternoon.
The Wilfa Svart is a great grinder but doesn’ go fine enough for espresso. Been using mine for a couple of years for v60, Aeropress and Moka and it’s great.
I’m on a Gaggia Classic with upgraded steam wand and 18g VST basket with a Iberital MC2 grinder.
The iberital reviews well for Espresso grinding: Iberital mc2 auto domestic espresso coffee grinder industry standard.
It’s funny as I was gonna recommend an Iberital MC2, loved my wee MC2 as my entry into this coffee obsession.
+1 on the Wilfa - picked this up earlier in the year and have been over the moon with it. Really solid grinder for anything above espresso.
It’s really easy to adjust the grind size to whatever you like and also dial in the timer to get the right quantity through.
Haha, I am sorry, but I am not.
Nice read from Andy van Bergen, kind of the inventor of everesting. He is probably to humble to accept that because of George Mallory but anyways.
Nice read.
Ill start by saying that I am a huge fan of coffee and think I can appreciate some of the finer details. I usually drink drip in the morning and have a Gaggia Academia as an expresso maker.
Heres my question… i got an Aeropress about a year ago and haven’t found it any better than drip coffee. Am I missing something? I haven’t spent a lot of time trying to fine tune since using good coffee with it doesn’t deliver results that are much better than a drip maker. Am i missing something??
Nope. Not missing anything.
The only thing you can experiment with is the amount of grind (you’re using fresh beans, right ? RIGHT???), water you put in and how long you wait for it to brew.
I don’t use my Aeropress a lot unless I’m traveling but I think when I have my grind right that I can do better than I would with drip. With good beans it’s closer to a long black or Americano, not an espresso machine but I can get a bit a crema and it’s a good cup of coffee.
Not really no. But its a great piece of kit for travel or if you are starting out into more serious coffee. An aeropress plus a basic hand grinder can last you for years (all of my student days now that I think of it)
Can get more fancy if you want to. Youtube for many recipes
No way out of that one!! ![]()
Brilliant set up, love it
Love this. It looks like a properly well used tool rather than a flashy kitchen status item. ![]()
