Can I Detect FTP in the Specialty Phase

Does TR allow you to detect but not accept FTP in the specialty phase? I expect a rise in FTP, but would prefer the longer intervals of my current FTP for my climbing road race plan.

With the new AI rollout, will I lose the FTP prediction if I don’t accept the increase during the specialty phase.

very likely. I didn’t accept one that was only a watt lower a few months ago and it stalled the detection process.

I don’t know the answer for Speciality but.

The original reason for not testing/changing FTP in speciality was because the hay was in the barn and you’re just honing the edge of the tremendous weapon you’ve become.

So…whilst your fitness may continue to increase or not, it shouldn’t be at the forefront of anyone’s mind that close to race day.

… Basically, you shouldn’t want to see it.

I had the same question, got the answer a week ago.

Initially i got no ftp update after 28 day, then a couple of days later when i opened the app i was presented with my new ftp, while being in my specialized phase.

So i guess, yes you will get an option to renew your ftp.

Did you complete a workout at a high Athlete Level?
The number it written somewhere but I think it’s once you complete a workout over 9 in SS or Threshold in Specialty Phase you get a 2% bump.
I may have the details wrong but it’s something along those lines.

You get FTP updates in specialty phase with the new TRAI. I’ve had one, have another scheduled in two weeks.

I’m tempted to turn off the AIFTP prediction until my race. Don’t necessarily want to see things creeping down/decreasing when I know I’m fit and heading into a big event.

As others have already posted, you CAN detect you AI FTP during specialty phase, but you don’t have to. If you chose to not do it, you FTP prediction will not be gone, but instead will move forward day by day to the end of your AI Training Simulation window.
