First time back on trainerroad in a few years. Taking a break from using a coach for a bit and liked the sound of some of the new features that trainerroad has been promoting as of late.
Fired it back up and had the software make me a plan to prepare for an “A” race(s) in early June. I don’t quite understand what the plan builder is doing here in the beginning. It starts me with two 5x10 sweet spot workouts in this first week, and then drops down to a pair of much easier sweet spot workouts in the second week. Shouldn’t it be progressing the other way? Is this a bug or is it correct and I should just trust the software?
@Torneng is right. Your workouts will adapt. I’d only focus on what’s in place this week.
Keep in mind, though, that training isn’t always perfectly linear, and there likely will be cases where not every single workout is of a higher level, or harder than the last one you did. Consistency over time, recovery, and quality work is what makes the biggest difference over the long haul.
Regardless, get the ball rolling and let us know if you have any concerns along the way. Follow the plan and try to focus on the next day or two and you’ll likely have good success.
