I built a good base over the winter and have been pleased with my consistency and fitness, but I smashed myself a bit too hard last weekend with a hard ride on the Saturday and a 1hourxc race on the Sunday. Went out to do 6V02 max hill repeats yesterday (following the BC training from the day before) and had no legs.
So for the next 2 weeks, it’s recovery, nutrition, turning over the legs and packing.
Hoping I find my freshness
Winter and early spring training went really well, consistent with my TR sessions and some outdoor rides thrown in for skills etc.
A long work trip with a lot of travel and long flights last month took longer to get over than I hoped but switched a few things up and rested and was able to get two good weeks of training in.
We’re now in the US to do a Gravel stage race…….then a rest week……… then BCBR
hoping everything comes together!!
Did BWR Hell of the North at the end of May, combine that with a bunch of work travel and family obligations and I was feeling pretty beat up through the start of June. I’m just trying to keep the fitness I have and looking forward to riding my mtb for 7 days with (relatively) no other commitments! Should be a blast.
Just started a new BCBike race 2023 thread
Which gravel stage race were you doing? I’m kinda keen on one for 2024.
We did the Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder - 5 days, 350 miles, 10,000m of ascent. Very tough!
Glad to have done it - well organised, not too big, amazing scenery. Now trying to rest up, recover and let my sore contact points heal up before Monday!
That’s the one I’ve been considering! Awesome, glad to hear you liked it, I’ll definitely keep it on my radar.
