Yes! Went from 291 to 310 3.94 w/kg after some long distance tri base and honestly missing a lot of longer rides.
Yep, only an extra 3w. Although after hitting 4w/kg I’ll take any small increase…
Yep me too. First season on TR and had just finished SSB2 and the start of Sustained Power Build Ramp Test for me fell on New Years day. I went from 210 to 224 which I’m very happy with and exited about getting a year of TR under my belt.
I used the Ramp test to start a 16 week Training Plan for a Spring Triathlon. I’ve been doing Olympic Mid Volume Base Training for the last 6 weeks leading up to Christmas and then did a long ride on Christmas Eve. When I tested today I was pleased to see my FTP increase to 249 from 225. I actually got good sleep last night and don’t drink so that may be part of that bump.
I hate the timing, it feels so cliche but after SSB1, Vasectomy, and my target A race on May 4 this is how the plans landed. 10 days after my vasectomy (now) I start SSB2 and went from 284 to 298 FTP on my ramp test this evening.
Did mine on the 30th after 6 weeks of SS1 plan.
11w improvement to 202w.
Still a very long way from 265w before the injury but I’ll get there.
Yes. I missed most of the last week of half distance triathlon base but was keen to get on with the build part. As a 55 year old experienced triathlete I’m not too bothered about missing those workouts. Old FTP was 218 and retested at 222. Just as well I only weigh 67kgs and can swim and run
Yup, no change from the previous test at the beginning of SSB1 at 327W. I’m okay with that considering the craziness of holidays, eating, etc.
Hope to see an improvement after the next block and a training camp in Mexico at the end of Jan.
I was going to do it on the 1st but wanted to keep the monday/ wednesday/ friday consistancy of the low volume plan so did it on the 31st, went from 241 > 267 on SSB LV1
Does Dec 31 count? (I start weeks on Monday, not Tuesday).
241 after SSB MV1 at 235 and a recovery week mostly off the bike after a bad salad for lunch Christmas Eve (took 3 days to get hydration back on track and another before I didn’t need to nap during the day to overcome nausea and headache). That’s equal to my last test before a short off season.
I did it just happen to fall that way. Got a 15 watt increase so was okay was hoping for more but better than going backwards!
I also decided to end the year with one (on the 31st) rather than Jan 1. Happy with the results, just under a couple watts my peak of last year and starting SSB2 now, hope to make some more sweet spot gains and then excited to move onto build.
Non Drinker, but did my Ramp Test on December 29th 2018 so that I could begin my HITT on the 1st… where I did Sleeping Beauty -5 to access what I’d being doing next based on how I felt!
Onward to Sleeping Beauty -4 for Thursday and Full Blown Sleeping Beauty on Saturday…
After that… may the Insanity Begin!
Well done just for doing it!
I wasn’t hungover but I had other excuses
Gave it a crack for the first time, quite a bit lower then expected (went from 315 sealevel to guessing 300-285 from recently moving to 5500ft, ramp says otherwise *267 ) Can ONLY go up!
I did it also, not necessarily planned but just fell that way.
Went from 222 to 241 after traditional base 1 and 2; didn’t test after TB1 due to illness so was the first time I was able to see the progress. Really pleased with 19w increase and expecting some good stuff after TB3 and then into SSB (have a long time til main race so going TB->SSB route)
I did as well.
I went from 291w to 303w FTP (at a hefty-for-me 82kg), with a goal of 350w and 77kg for the year. It sounds TOO ambitious, but in 2016, I was a pro road racer. After getting a real job, marriage, etc., I’m seeing if I can get back in top shape with TR. I’m super impressed with a lot of TR users I’ve seen, as my best FTP was something around 370w at 75kg, right at 4.9w/kg. I’ll add that I’m a consistent 10-15w better outdoors, even with a majority of my training on TR over the last 4 months.
I’ve been significantly less consistent than I hoped, so essentially I’m on SSB1 Low Volume, but I’m moving into mid volume SSB2 starting with today’s ride because I have no doubts my body can handle it when I get up to speed with consistency.
Happy new year of training everyone!
I did, and it didn’t go so well. I’m a new user of TR, and just finished 5 weeks of Time Crunch 30. I have been mtb riding ~5hrs/week with no structure, so have decided to give some structure a shot. Unfortunately, my FTP dropped nearly 10% over the past 5 weeks. This may be real or not seeing that I’ve been using virtual power on an unsupported trainer. A late NYE didn’t help either. I’m doing another ramp test tomorrow as I’m upgrading to Kinetic Fluid trainer and starting with SSB-LVI. Wish me luck.
I’m in my 6th week (recovery week) of SSBASE mv1 and have the test next week! Ftp was 280 5 weeks ago but I’ve put on like 9-10lbs over Christmas and am hoping it’s lower before moving into the next 6 week block! I was really struggling after 20 mins with the high intensity workouts and am hoping it was down to not using a fan…I’ve got one now so here’s hoping!
Started SSB2 1st Jan
FTP unchanged since starting SSB1
Did have a break from Intermittent fasting New Years Eve and a few beers so may retest
But I have lost 22lbs since Aug
