Any place to get Shimano service parts in the US?

Managed to bash my right Di2 shifter; the small button doesn’t click properly any more. Of course, Shimano in their infinite wisdom doesn’t allow online sales of service parts in the US, and you can’t order from the UK any more, so the only choice is replacing the shifter at $500 + whatever the LBS wants to charge to remove and reinstall.

Can’t an authorized Shimano dealer in the US order service parts?

I suppose, but they don’t want to sell me parts, they want to do the repair.

Maybe try some other shops. That sucks that Shimano doesn’t make it easy, but I bet you could find a shop selling parts if you call around. Quick google search shows worldwide selling some shimano shifter parts online, maybe they can order what you need. Shifter Parts Shimano | Worldwide Cyclery

I guess worst case you pay the shop to fix it (if it’s cheaper than buying another shifter).

Search for the parts list by the model number. Use the part number to run a google search. I’ve always found what I’m looking for this way. Performance Bike has a pretty deep inventory for Shimano.

Did you ask?

Not saying this applies to you, but a general statement: this is where you make your hay having a relationship with your LBS.

If you do run into a brick wall you could always message Terry for some help. I know he is not in the US but it might be worth a shot.

hah, sorry… 9 days later…

Have you tried Pawel’s channel? https://www.youtube.com/@Di2_GP

And specifically, this video on the shifter buttons: https://youtu.be/WXLLEtmYl4k?si=IZvf2uhEqXjAaaEe

I do 100% of my own maintenance and repair on my bike; I have the tools specific to my bike(s).

However, my LBS has access to reliable distributors of genuine parts. For example, I have given up trying to buy genuine Shimano chains online - - many, many fakes out there. I keep a couple of pairs on the shelf, since COVID and tariffs have been so disruptive to supply chains in the US.

The LBS doesn’t mind. In fact, the shop mechanic enjoys the small talk, about what we learn, from a fellow nerd.

FWIW: I worked as a bike mechanic for a big shop. We were always helpful and encouraging to anybody working on their own bike looking for parts or info. It’s bad for business not to be.

Update: I tried another bike shop. They were willing to order the parts for me but apparently the things weren’t even in their Shimano ordering system. So now I’m waiting for them to talk to their Shimano rep. It’s like being back in the dark ages.

Apparently the Shimano rep has told them the parts aren’t manufactured any more. (Obviously they are, because they still put them in new shifters, but Shimano clearly doesn’t sell them separately). Does SRAM pull this crap?

I think this spring might do it but I’m not sure. A 3mmx5mm is a bit too small in both dimensions.
