Adaptive Training Closed Beta Update

Hmm, many thousands says more than 4000 to me.

A few = 2-3

Several = 4+

Many = a lot more than 4

Don’t hold your breath!

True. I’m hoping for the (promised) ramp-up of adding more than 100 people at a time. Once it gets to that point it shouldn’t take too long for all of us who signed up on Day 1 to get in :slight_smile:

Am I right that there is an FTP projection graph or table? What does it look like?

To me as well, but as it came from TR, I chose the lowest of the possible values.

i’m in 2 minds about this.
I’ve just resumed training after an enforced hiatus, so feel like AT could really be helpful to tune my progression.
At the same time, i don’t think i have the fitness to cope with a major bug like was mentioned the other day.
Hence, happy to wait (no, i won’t give my spot in the queue either :stuck_out_tongue: )

This is off topic I realise, but Blizzard’s Discourse forum has a great solution to this. They have “staff tracker” and “dev tracker” navigation.

See Blizz tracker - Overwatch Forums for example. Then within threads they have buttons to move to the next “official” post (e.g. Xbox Downtime on March 23, 2021 - General Discussion - Overwatch Forums). I don’t know if these are standard Discourse plugins/features though.

When will adaptive training be rolled out? Currently I score woefully on a standard ramp test (41 watts below an 8 minute test).
With the current protocols / metrics a ramp scores me far too low for sweet spot while the 8 minute test puts me so high I can’t hit threshold / VO2.
Suggestions to manually adjust the percentage are vague and leaves the user guessing.
This current system is making me slower!
I’m intrigued as to whether this will be read or simply lost in the cybervoid.
Meanwhile the panel members of TR forum will simply ignore this

I got in to beta yesterday and I have not found such a thing. IIRC something like that was mentioned at podcast so maybe it is an upcoming feature to AT somewhere down the road.

I have been following my plan but changing all of my planned workouts by choosing the equivalent workout using the TrainNow option. My experience is that the TrainNow options refresh each day and have been giving me a challenging but achievable workout. Nate has said that TrainNow uses the same AT logic but doesn’t show the progression levels.

This said I’m not sure that this would be working as well if I was training outside.

Hadn’t thought of that. I wonder if it works?

I have done all my riding indoors following the standard TR plans since October and TrainNow seems to have worked quite well for me. I tend to ‘overtest’ by 1 or 2 % when doing the Ramp test so I manually adjust my FTP down by 2%. I think this threw out some of my levels a little for a week or two but I was able to increase the intensity by 2% for the VO2 workouts and that seemed to work out about right for me. YMMV.

It’s certainly worth looking to see what is being recommended each day and comparing that to what you have scheduled.

The TR folks have FTP projection internally, but it’s not part of the AT beta (yet).

That’s one of the missing pieces for sure based on my beta experience so far.

Can anyone explain to me why on train now there are a number of times when nothing comes up for the different suggestions?

I believe that there are instances when there literally isn’t any suitable workouts.

Is there a reason for that?

At the moment I can’t run so I am substituting in endurance but I keep coming on and there isn’t any.

With no pools open and no running I am just a cyclist :cry:

What duration are you looking at? I’ve seen it struggle to find short endurance rides for instance - but they are a little pointless :man_shrugging:

Edit: We should probably move this to the “trainnow” thread…
