Unfortunately, yes Never in my athletic life (even as a schoolkid playing little league) have I ever been accused of having speed or explosiveness. In that respect, I do not “heat up quickly.”
I’m a crock pot, not a microwave.
Year end curve, including a focus on 1 min and under power in the last block.
I have a stages on my gravel bike, but also have a neo 2 as my trainer. I realize the 1/2 sec numbers are not that useful but the slope of my graph doesn’t look that much different than a lot of others. What do you consider an accurate amount of power drop off? Wouldn’t pedal/crank power meters show a higher initial spike of power because they are where the force is initially applied? Power meters further down the drivetrain wouldn’t see the same spikes.
Honestly speed is a bit relative. It depends on the race, the field you’re up against, the course, etc…
Ideally if I’m sprinting or setting up a sprint, I like to be going 35+mph pre-launch. This is fast enough where no one is going to be coming around you before you hit it, but still leaves some room to accelerate to max speed for the sprint.
Like I said, it depends on a lot of variables, but generally, in my opinion, the faster I can be going before the sprint, the better.
