Following on from:
Continuation from the 2024 thread with 2025 post’s
I wanted to pop in here and let any of those who were thinking about a set of Nextie Supreme wheelset but was worried about the carbon spokes, they have released their own version of the Bard spokes called Polymer Fiber Ti-Fi.
This opens up the doors for both road and mtb from there offering and is extremely light still (2.2g per spoke). Just figured I would drop it in here and kick the year off since everyone loves talking wheels.
Polymer fiber Ti-Fi rope spoke weighs only 2.2g. It’s super light, super strong and super comfortable.
I am excited about it!
It will be interesting to see how the market goes, here is a spy shot of the hubs.
They (Nextie) are going to a 20/20 spoke combo for the road wheels. That just shows how strong they are and its really going to reduce wheelset weight as the spokes are 2.2g each (so only 88g for road wheelsets).
What are we expecting to see? with most new bikes released in 2024 Olympic Year, not much left for 2025. Maybe fox electronic suspension fork as a real competitor to FA? 2.5 Specialized Tires, 2.4 Race Kings? New Blur?
Any guesses?
Not expecting much tbh. Hoping for the electric dropper from Bike Yoke that was supposed to come out in 2024.
XTR Di2 12/13sp with the battery on the mech and a single trigger on the right. Same battery in the shifter as Road Di2.
We should see it for real some time in early spring or at the onset of XCO world cups. Due at my LBS in August. Got a wink wink to postpone my bike purchase until then.
I hope this is about XTR
XTR Di2
Xtr di2 seems like a sure bet at this point!
Anyone heard anything anout tires other than specialized 2.5 and race kings 2.4?
DI2 XTR feels like something thats never going to be released.
Your New Year’s resolution should be to ride Flight Attendant
Are Race Kings 2.4 confirmed or just “hope”
A 2.4 XC race tire is confirmed by Continental. Likely in multiple different threads. Wether it’s going to be called Race King or not, that’s to be seen.
By the way, PFPs Pinarello XC bike was at Eurobike this year, equipped with some meaty looking tires with a “Prototype” and “Ruban” hot patches. The thread was the same as in the current wire bead Ruban. They looked quite used, so unlikely to be just placeholders. Plenty of race pics around showing her using those tires
Hopefully we get a lighter weight Sram AXS Dropper
Do you know the price per spoke? The website only lets you see prices if you have an approved account.
Ibis Exie is due for an update, I expect it to be 120/120 or at least 120/115.
All the other companies have already changed their models.
I suspect TREK could figure out a way to run more suspension at the rear of the SuperCaliber, but it doesn’t seem to hold back the team as it is.
Hump
Hey there!
Their are a few things about these spokes that I should probably put out there first;
- The Nextie spokes are a Aramid Fiber, where Berd spokes are a ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber.
- The Nextie spoke are not able to be colored because of the type of fiber it is (will retain that gold color look)
- The Ti-Fi spokes are currently only supported by Nextie hubs or that is what I have been told.
- The Ti-Fi spoke cost is MSRP $28/pcs - they also have a slightly higher assembly fee.
As of the writing of this post (1/6/2025) they are only offering the Ti-Fi in a road and gravel wheelset. This is due to not having the MTB hubs manufactured, they expect that the MTB hubs will be available/ready in 1-2 months.
I hope I covered most of the questions users will have. These wheelsets as stated before cannot (yet) be quoted off the website but can be quoted through dealers.
Scott Spark is also due to update.
I expect the Specialized ‘Captain’ tire to come out for the public. Kind of looks like the Rick XC in tread pattern (from what I remember).
Not sure how “XC” it would be considered here, but I have on good authority that a new Salsa Spearfish will be out in the spring, and am expecting to hear about a new Norco Revolver soon as well.
