looks like Superman got off relatively lightly.
Question for those using Fubo or Flo Bikes to watch in the U.S. Do both services provide full stage replays? Trying to pick between them to watch the races that NBC Sports Gold doesn’t carry.
FLO does, yes.
IIRC, you have ti first subscribe to FUBO’s streaming service and then add-on the cycling or sports package. You could not get just the bike stuff when I looked into it.
Fubo does but you have to “record” it to the cloud DVR.
Relatively yea, but still sounds like part of his bars, or the barrier, or pierced his groin. Still a significant injury
Wow the amount of trash dropped in the litter zone was kind of staggering
I swear they burn through a years worth of gels in half a day.
Oh crap. Thomas is already getting dropped. GC shake-up already
Apparently an earlier crash took a lot out of him.
Dafuq. Simon Yates also dropping back. What is happening??
Who are the GC favourites now? Nibali and Fuglsang? Does Kruiswijk have a chance?
I don’t think I have seen a grand tour blowing up so early.
Really unlucky for G - looks like he hit a bidon in the neutral zone (video) below.
Well thats this years Giro ruined.
Unbelievable bad luck…
If Ritchie Porte was riding, he would definitely have hit that instead.
I don’t know why there were 3 bidons rolling in the peloton in the neutral start…
This is the question. I mean, there should be a fine or time penalty for throwing them in crowded areas. So unbelievable stupid…I know some simpleton will inevitable reply: “this is racing”. There are many regulations, but very few to prevent these guys from breaking their bones unnecessarily.
I think they probably fell out of people’s bottle cages rather than them needing to throw them away so early in a stage?
Given his luck, if he hadn’t been taken out by a bidon, he would have hit by a low flying bird or something…
With a crash like that I don’t know how he finished the stage…
I think by now his list of missed opportunities is longer than his list of victories. So unlucky. I remember in his book about his Tour victory he describes, basically thinking the entire tour: “don’t crash, don’t crash, don’t get sick, don’t crash”
Really sad.
For someone with a bunch of Olympic medals, a TdF win and a national title G had the most appalling luck!
seriously bad luck, the type that makes me think of this guy:
Why?
Loads of racing to come - loads of great riders and surprises still to come.
Firstly; the contenders for the GC has been trimmed, and really only going to be 1 or 2 different riders now.
Secondly; 2 great riders who represent the country I am from are now sadly out of contention.
We often see in GCs that when a favourite falls away - another rises. This being an unusual year - am sure we will have plenty of surprises like in the Tour.
I like G and always enjoyed seing the Yates brothers race.
But plenty of great riders and champions left to light up the Giro.
Looks like Nibali is now in prime position here.
Has Thomas pulled out or is he still starting stage 4?
Also, how’s the stray dog on the road that the pelaton almost hit?! Wowee. Between that and the bidons on the road you’d want to have some pretty sharp bike handling skills!
