Yes of course. I’m not minimizing his merits
That is a REALLY generous interpretation of the events in favor of Kelderman
You can’t know that … with the legs he had that day, it’s quite possible that having a team mate with him wouldn’t have made much difference.
Anyhow - cracking finish in prospect tomorrow…
That is a lot to bet in “woulda, coulda, shoulda”.
The fact is that Hindley had his own position to defend being 1” up on TGH. It isn’t like he was some domestque and 2 minutes down who decided to ride for himself.
Sunweb had two cards to play for the GC on Thursday…they played them both, rather than throwing all in for one questionable one.
100% the right move, as today proved.
Just wondering about a tied finish (in any race).
If a photofinish couldn’t separate two riders, would they both get to stand on the podium for being the winners that day?
(I don’t mean for the overall jersey, and on that note I’ve no idea what they look at on count back, how many stages they’ve won overall or just that day)
Can anyone explain the rule why Hindley is in pink?
What an amazing race it was. Took me almost two weeks to get in mood for the Giro. But up Stelvio and now this stage - love it!
Announcers said it was based on count back in the time trials, which get timed to the hundredths of a second.
Haven’t gone back to look uo the times to confirm it.
If anything can be reproached to Sunweb, is that they tried to keep both their options open, possibly for too long.
They decided NOT to decide. Hindley didn’t drop to help Keldo, but he also didn’t attack TGH when I think he could have, and could have had a more important gap.
I understand WHY he didn’t do it, I’m not disputing it. But in hindsight (20/20) it’s a bit like Roglic not putting his opponents to the sword when he could on the tour (lesson learnt, if I go by his behaviour at the vuelta)
Yeah, I think that is a fair point.
And maybe Hindley had the green light to attack on Thursday and just didn’t feel he had the legs to drop TGH, who knows.
Up is down, down is up - and for the second consecutive grand tour I’m excited to watch a time trial. What is happening to me?
Is there another delayed start today? I thought it would already be going by now (0800 Eastern.
As scheduled, later because of how short the stage is

Thanks. Bloody FloBikes had the start at 7am on their schedule. I was hoping it would be done before I have to go out for my long run.
These are European times, -1 one hour for UK.

DIBBEN Jonathan – 19’ 29’’
I don’t know where his position sits re: UCI limits, but ideally, I’d like to see Ganna extend his reach a bit and maybe angle his arms uo a bit more.
His reach is so short that it is causing the constant “carriage return” of his hips ~every 15”.
Haga with a great ride, but came up just short.
ETA - good lord is Ganna a beast. Those watts are incredible…
Ganna appears to be on another planet. Being that far ahead in first over such a short distance shows just how insane his power, aero position and line choices are. He took that one S bend slightly different than everyone else I saw, and it kept him in the skis for an extra second or two, for example. Min-maxer with outstanding power. An animal. And could be undefeated in TTs wearing the rainbow bands at the end of the day.
Here we go…my guess is we’ll know the winner by the first time check.
Not when the difference is just a few seconds as it seems likely to be.
We will know the winner once both of them crossed the finish line
I think it will be more than a few seconds…
Never the best reference, but visually TGH seems to be going faster.
