20 min FTP Test / AI FTP - TR Software Help

I’ve been using TR AI FTP and generally content with it.

Today I did a 20 minute FTP test for some objective comparison to past tests.

I held 311 watts for 20 minutes. Afterwards, TR asked me to accept my new FTP of 295 watts. My existing AI FTP was 300 watts with a predicted increase of 309 watts at the end of next weeks endurance week. I was satisfied with all of that.

I accepted the 295. Now, it’s asking me to accept the previous 300 from March 7th to go back to the AI FTP process.

I’m ok with that, I just want to understand how things are going to be impacted by going back to 300? Is it going to predict me back to the 309 in a week?

I have been completing my workouts at the AI FTP numbers fine, so don’t know that I need to water them down. Any input here would be appreciated.

Decided to accept the AI FTP now it has me jumping to 317 in a week. At least TR is clear that this isn’t intended to mean power one can hold for an hour, because I could maybeeeee hold this for 20 minutes based on the FTP test I just did.

The 3 planned workouts between now and the next update are all zone 2 endurance..

This pretty cool, out of my curiosity do a 20 minute FTP test every year before the start of the CX season just because this is what I’ve always done.
I’ll like to see how it compares to the new AIFTP.
Before the update it use to track pretty close.

Do you do have a lot of planned outdoor rides and do a lot of workouts outdoors? Right now the AI has a bug or two where outdoor tends mess up the AI FTP prediction. I would not be surprised if that ~17W increase in a week comes down a lot.

Also note that the AI FTP is more of a “at this FTP, TR will give you the best workouts” rather than “this is you actual, physical, real-world FTP”. Sometimes they are aligned, and sometimes they might not be.

None. I do 2ish outdoor rides per month, both are my weekend endurance ride. I ride 4 days a week, which is how my plan is set up.

Thanks for the reminder on the FTP setting. I’ll keep the AI going as it gives me good workouts where it sets it. I was thrilled to have my calculated based on 20 min test vs AI be within 5 watts. The move to 317 (+22 of my test) is a stretch. It’s ok though, but now I know for my own sake what’s closer to my “real FTP.” (Obviously I know there’s a million nuances for the subjectiveness of what “FTP” means)
