just seen this https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2024/11/xert-fascat-join-zwift-integration-trainerroad-soon.html
That sounds pretty promising to be honest
FastCat integration before TR? shameful ![]()
I’m pumped for this, it will make me forget about WLV2.
I hadn’t thought about running for this, but seeing how Xert has an “activity types” dropdown, now I’m hoping TrainerRoad also sends running workouts to Zwift. If not, I’ll leave it here at least as a feature request for @Nate_Pearson ![]()
Sounds promising, and also like TR needs to move quickly or risk being left behind by nearly all their main competitors.
Thanks for sharing!
One thing that might get missed in the discussion is that when Ray says he autogenerates a workout in Xert and within 3 seconds it shows up in Zwift, this is a nice improvement over the way it’s worked with TrainingPeaks in the past. “The old way (using TP)”, when you opened Zwift and decided that you didn’t like the TP WOD that appeared, you would replace it in TP and then you had to wait a bit and maybe even restart Zwift (or maybe that was just coincidence caused by my impatience) before the new TP workout would show up in the Zwift Training folder. Having it almost instantaneously port over is a really nice improvement.
That was on Nate’s Strava feed 5 days ago.
Oops I guess I didn’t go back far enough. Works been nuts so I’m playing catch up with my Strava stalking ![]()
Got a bit excited for this as I’ve been running the combo for years now and have always wanted the integration ![]()
These posts on this forum can be so big its impossible to read them all. You take one day off and BAM another 100 posts ![]()
I hope I’m wrong on this, but I see this as the beginning of the end for TR. How long before it’s just one product?
Dont think it will be a thing and inspite having only one subscription it would be better I prefer both separated. With the integration we can use only Z when we want but also use TR minimized alongside with Netflix or whatever for distraction.
Dont like minimizing Z to watch a show unless they have a player in the future like minimized TR.
If Zwift were gonna buy a training platform to supplement their product then I think they would buy one of the others (xert) that would be far cheaper.
If anything I think offering this integration is a signal that Zwift are not interested in investing in the training side.
It seems they think it’s a better business decision to provide easier integration for training companies - letting them keep the money in that space - in order to protect their position as the leader in bike simulation.
I, like a lot of people, have both TR and Zwift subscriptions. I see them as different things - but I wouldn’t pay the combined price for a combined product. I don’t think a merger would make sense.
Well at the moment I don’t have both, but this may tempt me back to Z for the winter, which I guess would be job done for Z!?
Now GCN+ has gone, I can see me rolling into cancelling Discovery+ for the winter and re-activating Zwift, as really CX is just moving wallpaper for me.
I don’t see it happening, infact it seems a little more the opposite to me, Zwift has done a lot of things well but Training Plans is not one of them, seems to me that rather then diverge into having a Coaching department and all the pains that will bring to them, off load to others and get them to worry about that
For those who aren’t aware, there was a lot of noise a few years ago when Eric Min (Zwift CEO) visited Reno and we all thought a TR merger/buyout was about to happen. There was also noise when Min was seen using Xert. Neither of those mergers/purchases happened then, so I highly doubt they would now, especially given Zwift is going out of their way to be agnostic with all of the new integrations.
Not that mergers can’t be successful but it always seems like one part of a merger ends up getting the short end of the stick in the long run.
I’m wondering wether the baseline training series Zwift just announced is a collaboration with Xert.
Yup, I think it’s a win win for both companies. Zwift outsources proper training plans to the experts and the training experts outsource the simulating platform to Zwift. A lot of people currently use Zwift and TR (I do) and I’ll continue to do so… in fact I’ve been considering dropping TR for some time as I find the messing about running both Zwift and TR an annoying process. This will definitely make me keep both running. Be great if they decided to offer a discounted “all in one” subscription ![]()
