It kinda kills me how much people care about fonts, logos and such when there are real… functional issues & shortcomings far more deserving of ire and attention ![]()
Great minds think alike huh?
Tariq specifically asked in the video you shared. I wouldn’t have mentioned it otherwise.
However, I will say that in the real world, as a former IT Manager, fonts mean a LOT to clients and managers.
I actually stopped the video to post and complain about the font.
Sorry it’s just…ick. Just keep the Z and I’d be appeased.
- Sure, I get that he asked and assume you also posted under the comments in his video since he may have no idea I linked it here.
Regardless, I still think it’s worthless on many levels.
Steve Jobs credits the lack of fonts as being one of the way Apple distinguished itself initially.
A solution I use is to pick a flat course for intervals such as; The Pan Flats in Richmond, or the Flats in London for example. BTW, at some point Zwift allowed us to use any of the 9 “worlds” in workout mode.
Use sim mode in Zwift and run the workout on your bike computer. Seriously. One UI for following both inside and outside workouts. You make the power. You feel the terrain. Just like outside. Grey bar targets and red/yellow/green 3-sec power zones on my Garmin 530.
Not a bad option but the interface is different (maybe limited) on head units vs a few more (different) options within the TR interface.
And for those riders that don’t have power outside (only have a smart trainer for inside power), there is no “same” consideration if they aren’t used to following workouts with power from the head unit outside.
Great to have options, but it’s not a 100% identical scenario for everyone. Depends on the gear they have and use.
I just don’t see the point of raising the levels to 60.
I know a couple guys that I fully expect to automatically hit Level 60 as soon as the next levels are released.
I’ve never found the levels motivating other than to unlock gear. I’d be far happier with a new challenge like the California, Italy, and Tron ones.
Imagine if they gave another big carrot out there like the Tron bike…it was such a Badge of Accomplishment for so many. But here we are how many years later and no has been smart enough to come up with additional, similar challenges.
Yeah, looks great… too few miles. The comments on FB and Z reply are typical. Z rep is using the blanket “it is EPIC” to any and all comments lamenting the pitiful short nature of the new roads.
I don’t get the fascination with how “gorgeous” the graphics are…seriously, who cares? I can’t say as I have ever really noticed the difference between worlds and it certainly doesn’t change my overall experience on the bike.
As for the complaints about the font, are we talkinbg about the new logo or is there a new font used in the game? I get the sense that the “Z” in the logo was softened to make it look like a switchbacked road…

That’s a good theory. I thought it looked like they went with a backwards S to accommodate for half of their users calling it Swift.

- That isn’t quite how it works. They still have to ride, but gain faster than those riders under level 50.
Q: I’ve been at level 50 for a long time, how will I advance to higher levels?
A: Good news: we’re going to offer levels 50-60! Better news: If you’ve been at level 50 for a while and banking XP, you will start accumulating XP at twice the normal rate until your banked XP reaches zero. You’ll see on your head-up display with a keystone icon to indicate your accelerated accumulation.

- Some people do care. I am in the camp that Z is decent. I come from sim auto racing where the graphics are on a different level. The choice of Z to be more low-key to suit a wider range of machines, and maybe even just be “different” is fine by me. Once I am working hard or rolling in a group, I forget about the details. It is about immersion for me at that point.
As for the complaints about the font, are we talking about the new logo or is there a new font used in the game?
- Logo is part, but it looks like it may well extend further into the Z world. I am not entirely certain and have not bothered to dig further because it’s all but irrelevant to me.

Ah…I was under the impression that you got credit for all the mileage you had banked since maxing out your levels. Wasn’t that how they did it previously?
I went back and watched the video at the top of the thread and he seems to say you get credit for your existing miles / KM’s and that it puts you on an “accelerated path” towards Level 60…which combined with my previous understanding of banked mileage credit, was what led me to think you simply got the credit for all the miles you have ridden since maxing out at level 50.
If you’ve been at level 50 for a while and banking XP, you will start accumulating XP at twice the normal rate until your banked XP reaches zero. You’ll see on your head-up display with a keystone icon to indicate your accelerated accumulation.
I guess I need to see this in action to fully grasp it…does your banked XP “count down” on the screen?
I hate being a visual learner sometimes! ![]()
I think you had a choice too. You could do the accelerated or your could choose to just gut it out all over again. I can’t remember if that choice was there on this new one too.
I think you had a choice too.
-
Yup, as covered in the video for the prior state, riders effectively above 25 had a choice to accelerate or not.
-
My reading of the new state seems to make the 2x automatic, but I could be missing more specific info outside of the FAQ. That could well be down to the “small” step in levels from 50 to 60 (10 total) vs the 50-75 (25 steps) last time.
And for those riders that don’t have power outside (only have a smart trainer for inside power), there is no “same” consideration if they aren’t used to following workouts with power from the head unit outside.
Au contraire its missing the opportunity to use inside with power to calibrate the brain when doing outside workouts without power
I actually did that after our gym got Stages SC3 stationary bikes with power, and I didn’t have power on my bike yet.
Well, that’s true but not what I thought you were getting at with the UIX specific side of your comment.
“Calibration” of the brain can happen with that regardless of the head unit. There is no real way for a rider to use that device inside that translates outside unless they have a power meter.
They CAN work on the relationship between power and RPE, with the usual caveats that inside is still different than outside even for those that have worked hard to bridge that gap.
