I managed most of the -2 variant in the middle of what accidentally became an off-season with minimal intensity, so with any decent amount of threshold work & above I hope to do -1 or the full 4¼h workout.
Any time within a couple of days is within the spirit of the tradition.
I’ll be planning for the early morning of December 14 anyway, being that I’m in Australia, & in case anyone from the Americas is considering a group workout around midday on the 13th. In that case I’ll have to dust off the old tablet computer, to see if it’s still capable of running TR.
Looks like I haven’t disastered since 2022! Guess I’m overdue. Probably won’t be in shape for the full in time but I’ll try to do one of the variants that w/e.
I used to do this thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Everyone eats. Sleeps. Drinks. I head to the cave. Now I’m remarried. Harder to pull off. Come to think of it, I never second guessed marriage 2 until now.
I’m located in oz too. Have done it for the last 4 yrs. I created a one hour version, on WorkoutCreator called “Disaster -3”. Usually I do -3 three weeks out, -2 two weeks out etc.. It’s a great goal and a great way to pull the fitness into the next level. I’m in again.
here’s a note I sent to a friend. Trying to get them into WWDD25. Hope you don’t mind me calling you all crazies.
”Looks like the date is set for WWDD a few days either side of Dec 13. Many do the Disaster -2 (2 hour version) or the -1 (3 hour version). As I mentioned on the TR forum I made a -3 (1 hour) version that’s great leadup prep. As you know TrainerRoad is a semi underground society of those who know. WWDD is a cell within it. the crazies who refuse to accept limits until they find the edge of the cliff and sometimes fall off it. It’s like truth or dare with yourself. The stories over the years have been amazing not just those who make it but the riders who don’t and often in the last 30 minutes when the cumulative fatigue finally gets them. Disaster deserves respect. We’ve still got time to prepare. just. You in? Any version would be a tough goal.”
