WWDD - 2022 Disaster Day!

I appreciate you volunteering to coordinate this.

That’s why I watch action movies. The dialog mostly doesn’t matter.

Maybe @Jonathan or @SeanHurley can run it through WLV2 (since they are both probably in the private beta) and give us the levels… pretty please

First time I did an indoor century, I watched Avengers Infinity a war and Endgame, back-to-back. Movies flow together seamlessly and the timing was perfect.

The Avengers Century!!

When Coach Chad does it, he watches Baretta and Samsara back to back…

Uh…film nerds…unite?

You’d get people really scratching their heads if you got in sync with them going up Ven-Top doing all those intervals while they were dieseling up.

Tempus Fugit on a nice fast TT bike should be good for 100 miles.

Fast and Furious series is perfect for workouts.

If I give it a go, it’ll be December 13th.

For the veterans: what’s the hardest part of the workout?

When I did this a few years ago we did laps around the volcano with people adding “WWDD” to their names so we could identify each other. Made for some fun to see others suffering through tackling Disaster at the same time.

That’s rather appealing. I occasionally get razzed by friends for not having seen them (or like 80% of marvel movies) but have very little interest in sitting on a couch and watching them.

I think the general consensus is that Fireworks are the hardest part. They hit deep into the ride and never seem to let up. Once you’re past them, it’s only the mini-castle and then freedom.

For me…attrition. 4 hours on the trainer is a LONG time. My butt was killing me and I was constantly standing…and then the leg cramps kicked in…

I’m not katniss there will be no volunteering as tribute

Counter-point:

Do it.

I’m in.
Assuming I can convince my wonderful wife to let me ride a bike all morning then rest all afternoon instead of helping with the kiddos on my day off.

So yeah, I’m in.

I recently finished watching all the Mission: Impossible movies during my workouts, highly recommended.

Me preparing for Disaster:

Do y’all take breaks, or is that considered cheating? I was planning to use a couple of recovery intervals to stretch, use the bathroom, refill bottles, etc.

Absolutely take breaks! No way I could have finished the full Disaster without them.

“Not recommended”, so you’ll do it with us anyway this year, right @IvyAudrain?

Absolutely. It’s all warmup until Fireworks.

Fireworks is a total bear. But I also had real doubts when I hit the 2nd kick in the VO2 before the FRWX.
