WWDD - 2022 Disaster Day!

Almost through the threshold bits and looking forward to anything less than 10 min in length

Lost faith that I could finish the 4th threshold but backed the intensity too much and then recovered. The struggled with the VO2’s and had to backpedal on some. Stuck with it so that I could at least experience the fireworks. 2 of those sprints were enough to convince me that there are other things I wanted to do with my time today.

At least I now have something to aim for next year.

PS I edited the description on Strava for my non TR friends. But now the workout graphic is not showing. Any idea how to fix that?

I will now utter the most pathetic statement on the Internet: I’m doing Disaster on Christmas

Did you accidentally change Visibility to “Only You?”

Successfully completed Disaster - 2 this morning. I found it to be quite doable. It was my longest ride ever on the stationary bike, and had a sore spot on my perineum, but oth.er than that I’m feeling good.
Now for a nap

Pulled out with 90min left. I really thought those Vo2’s were 1 min not two. Should have done -1 but I am pleased with this and how little riding I’ve had of late.

Mine got stressful at the end. I had 3% battery left on my iPad at the end. I was worried it might be lost, but just got it over the line

Finished it at 100% and no breaks. Wasn’t actually as bad as I was expecting. Felt like doing a 200-300k ride. The “fireworks” part was definitely the hardest. Had one of my highest 20min heart rates during it (185bpm compared to record of 191bpm).

Ate a chocolate bar, two muffins and a cookie and that was more than enough.

Got mine done. Added an extra 5 minutes to the warm up. Made it through 3 1/2 CX races on GCN+. Really happy to get through it. I had a major shoulder surgery in September. Just released by the doctor on Tuesday to resume normal activity. This is normal, right?

I should have been more specific. The TR graphic showing the nature of the workout has disappeared. The name and the stats are still visible to all. But even I don’t see the “shape” of the workout. Never seen that before.

So disaster -2 done and dusted. I was thinking I hadn’t done enough work to warrant the full disaster or even the -1 but I marked -2 as moderate and frankly that was being nice. Should have done more or allowed Ai to detect ftp as I think I’m up for an increase. Happy to have done it and already thinking about the -1 before doing the full thing next year.

Done. No shame, I didn’t think I’d make it through the fireworks so dropped to 90% there and added 1% back after each effort so I was back up to 100% by the end of that section. Got my 25 laps badge for the volcano on Zwift too. Nap time!

Great job!!

4th edition of wwdd in the books! (Did I miss a wwdd in '20?) I rode the mega pretzel on Zwift which turned out to be the perfect length. As I finished Disaster I had 200 meters left to complete the route. Nutrition consisted of 2L of homemade gatorade mix (Dr. Harrison’s recipe), 1L of h2o, a banana and 4 girl scout cookies. For entertainment I went with only music this year - old school hardcore anthems from dj heavyweight. I saw a couple others doing wwdd on Zwift, but not as many as I’d hoped. Happy to be done with fireworks for another 365 or so days, and this was a nice warmup for the Festive 500 next week.

4 hours with nothing but music is hardcore. Nice work!

That’s not pathetic, sounds awesome, good luck.

In other disastrous news, my vitamix gave up the ghost with an impressive cloud of gray smoke while mixing my post-ride recovery smoothie. The smoothie was drinkable but I doubt the blender will be fixable. It’s a least 12 years old so it had a good run.

My turn!

No backpedals, no breaks, didn’t reduce power! I even stood up during the Fireworks sprints!

I have NO CLUE how you -1 and Full Disaster people do it! Bravo!

Edit: 2 hours 15 minutes of Carly:

Great ride today.

Pretty cool to do this with someone in a different country. I had to lower a few intervals by a few %. Over all I enjoyed it and would do it again with people on video. This 4hr offering was harder then the 3hr offering I did last year. Time to get my butt in gear and get ready for a race in March

Managed to do “-1” with bits of a cold still in my system. Cramped in the fireworks-section, so the “sprints” pretty much were nonexistent. Apart from that, I’m quite happy with what I did. Completed the 25 Volcano Laps in Zwift in the process. In a strange way looking forward to tackle that again sometime.
