(Mulling it over) Are you crazy?!
For clarity do you mean doing the “trifecta” …
A) All three in one day?
B) All in one week?
C) All in one month?
D) All in one year?
E) All within your lifetime?

I believe all 3 in one week.
Chad, you were right. That Zwift race-estimated FTP might be a little too high. I tried Monitor -4 today at 257 and got smoked on the six-minute SS intervals. I think I have to dial it back to my last tested value of 239w if I have any hope of making it to the end of the full version of Disaster.
At least you know and are making adjustments.
This is a big enough challenge even if you have the “right” FTP. No need to go in overloaded. ![]()
Not a good time for a general election - went to bed as usual but woke up at 3.45am and could not sleep again, so came into work early. Need a good night’s sleep tonight or I’ll have no chance of being fresh enough. Could push to Sunday if necessary.
Well this won’t be happening, as still in the sick house. Attempted a ramp test* this morning, as I felt ok the last couple of days, but since I finished that (and baxter -2) I feel knocked back. No way I’m attempting any version tomorrow, as I do hope to get back into training next week. Doing the ramp today, means next intensity is Wednesday on the days I do workouts.
I’ll pencil it in for next week, weather depending.
*Up 1 watt, which I’ll take after two weeks out!
Now sweat. A cold altered my plans last year. It stinks, but happens. Rest and recover is the priority.
Added my name to the Google doc. Hope to do -2 as I’ve said before on Saturday at 9h UTC. Only thing that may make postpone it until Sunday is the weather because my weather forecast gives a lot more rain on Sunday that what’s expected to Saturday and I really need an outdoor ride this weekend after the last two spent training only inside.
Good question! Already have dinner reservations for a burger and fries feast later in the evening.
Very tempted to get a few really nice big beers to toast the end…a few pints alone at noon isn’t a bad thing, right?!? ![]()
Maybe pizza or burritos and then ice cream.
Hmm, if doing this any time in December counts, I may do this as a birthday present for myself later this month, lol. I am in week 7 of a Sustained Power Build (Mid Volume) and I have Tallac +4 scheduled for this weekend. I don’t think I’ll be adding Disaster to my plans this weekend. But I might consider it after my plan is completed and I am looking at a week or two off after my birthday most likely. My wife and I are expecting our second child and the C section is actually scheduled for the day after my birthday. So it’s likely time off afterwards and then probably starting off the year with a base plan.
I seem to like birthday pain. I did Cartago for my birthday last year which is similar but “only” 3 hours. Ideally, I’d like to to a big outdoor ride but weather probably won’t cooperate. Maybe a birthday Disaster is in order.
This whole Disaster event was brought to my attention on the podcast this week. Looking forward to see everyone post their rides tomorrow.
As a TR noob, was really hoping to participate in this…however, I am off to China tomorrow for about 5 days. So I’ll miss the official day and I don’t think coming back and trying to knock out Worldwide Disaster is my best training option (especially since I am technically on a recovery week next week…at least that timing worked out well with my trip).
Good luck to those that go for it…I’ll hopefully give it a whirl at some point.
All in one week.
Haven’t done 4h+ on the trainer since 1999. The anniversary seems a fitting occasion to join Disaster Day.
Looking to get amongst it tomorrow around 2pm CET with the full fat version.

I still don’t know what to do during the 4 hours except from suffering.
