I came across the workout “Ditchling Beacon” the other day and my first thought was “Ditching bacon? In the middle of yet another f****ng lockdown and omikron variant and shit? I’m not picking NOW as the time to ditch bacon. Not gonna happen”
Oh yeah, I am sure they did, would be very difficult to call a mountain Big Nipple in your native language by accident! (I think Teton is nipples?)
Although on that topic did you know there’s 7 rivers in the UK called the River Avon (“River River”) because the Romans asked the Celts what that river over there is called… I think the Mississippi is something similar?
Not from Boring but I do ride through it fairly regularly; it’s maybe a 45 minute ride. It’s only really notable by the fact that a multiuse path I use to get out of town goes straight there.
