Why is AI predicting my next threshold interval workout to be EASY?

This Wednesday I have 1 of my 2 weekly intensity workouts scheduled. Recently the plan has started assigning Mixed Interval workouts for the Wednesday ones. I rated the last two as Hard (as AI had predicted). My next one after this week is predicted to be Hard.

But, I just noticed AI is predicting this Wednesday’s workout to be Easy!? Why would it predict this interval workout Easy? If it believes it will be easy, then why wouldn’t it replace the workout with something harder to be productive?

It will not be easy so when I complete it and rate it Hard or Moderate, my predicted FTP will decrease.

This makes no sense to me.

This Wednesday’s planned workout..

Last week, I rated this 3.8 Mixed Intervals workout Hard..

Two weeks ago, I rated this 2.8 workout Hard..

Next week is my recovery week; but the following week, AI predicts this 3.6 Mixed Interval workout will be Hard..

That looks … like a bug

This does seem strange.

I’d be happy to dig in and see what I can find. Is it okay to share some of your account details here?

Sure. Thanks!

I’m seeing that Creise should be “Hard” for you, not “Easy,” so this might be a visual bug.

I’ve forwarded this one to the team, and I’ll follow up when I have more info. :+1:

Hmm, weird. Thanks for looking into and keeping me posted.

Are you using erg mode or something else? your power lines look so smooth compared to mine when i use the resistance mode.

Yes I use erg but it’s also setup to display smoothing. The actual power is definitely not that stable.

FYI, I completed the workout today. It was still predicting me to rate it Easy. I ended up bumping the intensity up a few % for the second half and rated the workout Hard. My AI FTP prediction increased a couple watts after the workout so it does appear to be some kind of presentation bug.

Thanks for the update!

Yeah, that’s what it seemed like to me.. I’ll let the team know about this.

Thanks again, and let me know if you run into this down the road. :handshake:
