Who else plays Playstation while using TR?

I understand and just wanted to make it clear that we aim to keep this forum good, clean and respectful.

We can return to the topic at hand and all will be great

I used to watch TV, but I can’t really pay attention constantly, and have to turn it up too loud so I’ve started reading. I can prop a kindle up on my wahoo mount, and can stop or start reading as the workout allows.

Indeed, I want to see a video of @faniefiets playing the PS4 during over/unders.

For zone 2 work, warm ups and longer rest intervals I can watch a movie or video as long as the plot isn’t too complicated. For anything higher intensity it’s music only, no way I could focus on a game or movie. During a zone 2 ride I was watching some crappy romcom with my wife and confused two characters who looked absolutely nothing alike.

Is this just a variation between individuals or are some people just sandbagging it?

Back before smart trainers where popular I knew people who talked about spending 2-3 hours or more on the trainer watching movies. I always assumed they where just moving their legs against hardly any resistance. Their race performances back up my assumption.

Maybe i will try in the future to play on my XBOX whilst i do some endurance or recovery rides.
I think it’s a good way to ensure that you look ahead and not just down to train your TT position.
But for more intense stuff i will keep watching Netflix.

I play, but only when it’s long sweet spot or recovery rides. Can’t do VO2

I can’t imagine doing that, but then again I’m on a dumb trainer so I really have to focus on keeping effort. Even in Erg mode, I don’t think I could manage PS4 through a workout above zone 2 stuff. I can zone out and watch movies during Fletcher, Pettit, etc., but I generally need to focus a bit when I get into the 20-minute SS intervals, particularly the later ones.

For me, I listen to one of two podcasts (one is, of course, the TR podcast), watch a movie or sporting event if it’s easy or short sweet spot, or listen to uptempo music for the harder stuff (testing, VO2, over-unders, etc.).

Test: I can post on here whilst doing petit, but that’s my limit!

As punishment, I am now going to do 60 minutes of over/unders whilst listening to a Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Gloria Gaynor, Beethoven and ACDC mix.

Hopefully, that punishment will suffice and I promise not to make jokes again about music choices

I quite like the idea of playing a game, but I don’t think I could keep my concentration on TR or even put my arms in a comfortable position to hold the controller.

I do watch plenty of DVDs on my laptop though. I put the subtitles on and spin away. I would agree with difficult workouts that I haven’t got much idea of what I’ve watched…

Nope, I watch Netflix on easier rides and music for more intense workouts where I need to focus.

One of the statements I get most often when telling people I almost exclusively ride indoors are that it must be the most boring thing ever. I find it best to add a reward to the training. I thought a lot more people would play games.
I’m definately on a smart trainer. I lose cognitive function after couple of intervals. On my dumb trainer I could still do both on zone 2.
A video of my doing VO2max or over-unders would have to go to the nutrition category for those who want to lose weight, the sight will probably put you off food for a day.
@purgatos I do sweat an incredible amount, but find with two fans my hands stay fairly dry, drips off at the elbows and somewhere at the arse area (I assume).
@jcreyna My TT bike used to be perfect! It is much trickier with a road bike. I rest my hands on my bars, center, I have a aero handlebar which makes this quite comfy. Between intervals I usually sit up a bit which is also easy.

When I was training skills on rollers , I was playing on Xbox  Gears of War and Diablo were OK, but I will never never play Forza again
