Where is @gplama? No new content in over three weeks. Hope he and his family are all ok.
He posts pretty regularly over on the EC Discord….don’t think anything is astray.
Shane posted some new IG content yesterday. Guess he’s has no new content at the moment ready to go.
He’s out herding. (Quick response because I see him typing right now!)
Thanks for the concern, I do appreciate it.
I’ve been active elsewhere. Strava, Instagram, Reddit, forums, etc. Still doing my thing… why so few videos?
- Travel and more travel coming up. I’m aiming to be at the Shanghai Bike Expo in a few weeks.
- School holidays. Spending more time with little llama is a priority.
- I’m tired of complaining about garbage bike tech. I respect that people don’t want to hear it either.
- YouTube promotes making yourself and your thoughts the centre of attention every-single-day. That has less appeal to me these days, unless there’s something I really think is interesting.
- Having to battle companies (Bryton, Magicshine) who pull shady AF moves in planting comments and deceiving people with their posts disgusts me. If I was in full YouTuber ‘look at me’ mode, I’d light them up on this… it’d get a few views too. I’d rather be out riding, so that’s what I’ve done. For now.
- I won’t make everyone suffer by starting a podcast. I did like the ZwiftCast, although that’s… changed… lately.
When something interesting is worth talking about, I’ll talk about it. I’m just wrapping up the Wahoo radar review now actually. Hope to get that out by the end of the week.
Not a fan of the new version, at all…
Oh, I’m fully across the feedback.
They should have rebooted that as their previous Zwift Power-Up podcast. They’ve tried to switch the listener/subscriber base that Simon (and the rest of us) built, and it really hasn’t worked.
Overshare: I didn’t even know they were rebooting it. The first episode was a surprise. I was also skipped at Mallorca where they should have recorded one live. Shrug. I’m still working out where I sit. It wasn’t on the influencers table that’s for sure.
You tease, sir!
GL.
Speaking truth to the masses is never easy. I imagine that Socrates felt the same as some trying to fight the enshitification of society today.
But many value your work, your efforts to keep the industry based in reality and exposing the posers and prancers so proud of their ‘new clothes’. But the BS seems to be flooding the world like a tsunami. Crappy products, deliberately misleading specs, legions of sycophants, etc… You are part of ‘the good fight’, and I/we value your work.
I’m sure he’s getting burned out, crispy. Can’t fault someone for wanting to have a real life for a while.
All I can say is thank you for the years of content/reviews and talking about products. I know it has helped me more than once.
I cant imagine what the YouTube influencer lifestyle is like now, it honestly sounds horrible and anxiety ridden.
Safe to say that along with DC Rainmaker, GP Lama is my go-to to check, verify, and justify any new bike tech purchase
