Where did you workout (ride, run, etc) OUTSIDE today? (2025)

A typically overhyped doom & gloom weather forecast in the East of England, 44mph gusts and torrential after 12pm. It was only 25-27mph on the way out, 34mph on the way back and its still dry (3hours later). It was a social ride anyway so it wasn’t a stressful pace. Well until the last 3 miles when I was solo :joy:

I’m skeptical of a ride that took place in England yet uses only imperial units in it’s description

Most of the UK is still imperial, although we will use metric for calculations, its just Mainland Europe thats wholly metric.

Oddly I was in London a couple years ago (although I didn’t drive), but I’m amazed I didn’t notice this. I must graciously claim ignorance here.

I’ve no idea what the split is but there are those enlightened in the UK that use metric, and there are those that don’t cycle…

I made a trip to Moab last weekend to pre ride two of the stages in Moab Rocks - a race I’m riding in at the beginning of April.

It’s been almost 4 months since I rode technical single track, so the first miles on the dirt of the season are always interesting to see how they go.

It’s just like riding a bike tho :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: - you never forget, and I quickly got comfortable.

The stage I did not pre ride was the porcupine rim stage - as I’ve ridden that a bunch before and know it pretty well. Looking forward to the actual race.

I’m jealous! It’s been way too long since I got to ride Brands, Porcupine, etc. Hope it was a great trip.

Yep. Great trip, as always, to Moab. I’ll be down there for the race in April, and again over Memorial Day.

The white bike on the post is a “ghost bike”, in remembrance of a cyclist that was killed; I don’t know if those are done in other places besides the south.

The usual group ride today round to the Talbot in Oundle for :coffee: and :birthday:. Then round to beer garden before cycling 12miles home. It was a very cautious ride to the meet and I decided on the flatter urban route rather than rural route in case it was icy. I’m glad I made the effort the ride was :ok_hand:

I did do a couple of SS intervals before the pub.

And after a quick one there, it was back to watch the Omloop :+1:

An ad-hoc group ride today as we decided that the planned ride route clashed too much with an annual run. Eventually we worked our way round to the Rectory Farm cafe, a surprisingly popular cafe despite its location. Three had to get home so that left three of us sitting in the sun :sun_with_face:

After going back with them I decided it was too nice a day and the hoovering cab wait till after dark and took a ride down to Little Stukely to grab an OS tile (veloviewer).

I had to resist the urge to go out again when I got back but that was made slightly easier by Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne being on. So the bike sat like this for a while. It did get a proper clean before tea :slightly_smiling_face:

With it being a social ride I kept efforts short.

I am envious of your endless energy! “I thought about going for a 5th ride, but…”

Another one of my use it or lose it leave days used up and it was a great day for it :sun_with_face: It felt hotter than Strava says and I was way overdressed for the return. I was semi regretting the Lasagne for lunch at that point, but it was great so on the other hand I wasn’t :face_with_tears_of_joy:

I had the map on so I wasn’t concentrating on power.

With me riding outside yesterday my threshold workout for today adapted to a recovery ride, Lazy Mountain. With the weather still being good for here :sun_with_face:, I did it outside at lunchtime.

I’m not sure what planet Strava AI is on:

I did go up to 200w up a hill for a minute when a polite driver refused to overtake me doing recovery pace but its a long way of my recent best. The Blue line is 2025, the red today

seems like it’s been 6 months since we last saw blue skies and +10°C. So shorts it was and just noodling around to spin winter off the legs…

you’re looking at the bernese alps. left from the pole the three peaks are called Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau(joch). The village below those three mountains is called Grindelwald - where all the tourists go to. If you ever visit Switzerland, I’d skip Grindelwald and go to Zermatt instead. More expensive but so much nicer (imho).
