Where did you workout (ride, run, etc) OUTSIDE today? (2024)

So true! I’ve been chased my geese before, and their beaks are at a really bad height for the average male human.

Mt Blue and West Brook
Western Maine, USA

No real KOM attempts today. I half-a$$ed one early in the ride but my quads were still sore from hiking.

The route I choose apparently requires a MTB (or snowmobile in the winter), so I called an audible and biked to the Mt Blue trailhead, then did the “square” past the gravel pit (including one wrong turn down someone’s driveway) and parallel to West Brook.

Another cool (55F), clear, low humidity, calm morning for a perfect ride!

A view of the lake from the Lookout, complete with a little fog on the far side.

This is the MTB / snowmobile path that I clearly wasn’t going to get over on my Seigla. Speaking of which, today’s gravel was much chunkier than yesterday’s and I was super thankful for the Grit Fork and chunky 47mm tires.

Much better, but still a little chunky.

West Brook, left and right of a cool wooden bridge.

The lake from the shore of the lake house.

Tumbledown Brook Trail

Took all of the boys (including friends, cousins, and cousins of cousins) hiking. Then I worked on rebuilding a landing outside of the boat house that washed away this spring. And that’s after biking this morning. I’m a little tired.

looks fantastic for both you and the boys!

Mid week MTB race in town. It’s less a race, more like an uphill then downhill time trial. Times two.

#484 out of 2,680 on a 2 mile uphill segment.

#7 out of 2,140 on a 2 mile downhill segment.

It’s clear where my ex rugby player build benefits me most

No pics unfortunately. It was a race after all…

Bonus pic from yesterday evening gravel spin.

My second outdoors TrainerRoad ride - Glassy-3, and once complete, I thought I’d finish the third lap of the XC course as fast as I could. That didn’t last very long, so I crawled back to the car. Happy though.

Raft to raft. GPS track is poor, but OWS is tough with so little time in the air to get a signal from the satellites. Actual distance probably around 3000 yds.

Last day of vacation. Heading home tomorrow. :frowning:

It was a bit meh this morning so the usual group ride didn’t happen but it turned into a quite nice evening so I took advantage of the empty roads and headed to the Kings Delph fens to explore.

A tree was ‘conveniently’ down at a PROW that went through a farm.

Lol, given I was stopped I decided to take a zoomed in picture

Today didn’t go as planned… At all

My dad and I were supposed to head out and do about 30 miles from my house but I had some tire issues, that’s for another thread. He went and did a few miles and I yanked my tires and threw tubes in. Then we all headed up to the western Maryland rail trail which is a 20 miles end to end trail. But it’s paved and we hadn’t been in a few years and well it sucks now. Lots of frost and or root heaves. GF, my dad and I headed off and my mom took the tot in the jogger to find a park. The bumps were so bad we lost bottles, my spare tube came out ( found it) and I ended up cracking my aero bar arm rest, 70.3 next week so I needed some time outside on the tri bike.

12.5 or so miles in my dad says he’s turning back to relieve my mom, gf catches up right then and I go with her to the west end. We turn around I take off wanting to spend time aero but realize my arm pad Is messed up. At the car realize it is cracked about the time GF shows up ( dad no where to be found). She says she’s going to do a few more miles east. Little later my dad rolls in… He forgot the turn off, whoops, never found my mom and the tot. I’m finishing up attempting to fix the arm pad And realize my phone has been going nuts. I see a “I crashed text”. Grab helmet yell to my dad what happened and take off. Once rolling I call her, she’s about 2 miles out, just started walking back. Walk that 2 miles back together barefoot because cleats.

And now we’re at urgent care. Someone just walked in with cast supplies so I think broken hand.

Thanks.

Clean breaks in the last two hand/finger bones. Ortho Monday.

Right now knee is bothering her more than hand, nothing broken just swelling and ibuprofen finally working.

A 1 min and 43 sec PB on the sporting NC13C with an OT of 35.40. Not the best start with a driver panicking in front of me for some reason and then waiting carefully for me to overtake although I wasn’t as I knew there was an couple of big hills coming up, so I didn’t settle into the zone until a minute into the TT. I should have gave more up the last head wind hill as I had 40+ secs to recover. A bit of an annoying finish too, came up behind mtb’ers 6 abreast across the finishing line playing about in mock celebrations.

After the rain and the TdF, which followed the TT, I went for some local gravel loops before tea. Not really a workout but an enjoyable recovery.

Picked up my kid from camp this past weekend. A good excuse for a Colorado road trip and some short, scenic rides. Nothing very long, but great views!

So wife and kids are on vacation with the in laws… I couldn’t take off because I started a new job so o ised my off day to do a big ride. Started in Chur right out of the gate there is a 12km 6.5% climb up to Lenzerheide. Not the most beautiful climb but it’s ok. Then towards the Albula starts with a false flat and shallow. Then gets steep before Bergün and flattens of again for a bit then it is basically 7-10% to the top. It’s a really beatiful climb that takes you through a forested valley up to the exposed high alpine parts. Decent is at first open and fast then a more technical with hairpins.
Afterwards its down the Engadin Vallay towards Zernez/Susch to start the Flüela climb. Imo That part of Switzerland and Grishona is probably my favourite beatiful views and i reall ylove the olf viallge throughou. The climb provides really nice views but a bit more Traffic and a lot of Construction going on… Suffered a lot up the climb, stomach didn’t agree with me today, probably also because it was relatively hot.
Flüela Downhil towards Davos is also nice and technical in parts I hate it if you have slow car traffic in front and need to ride the breaks all the time… Then it was a short uphil and all the way down through the Prätigau until Landquart and a short 10k or so back to Chur.
