You see the light, literally, but what I see is Garmin’s leash in use. Someone actually uses the leash/tether/lanyard, but on a road bike? I get the roads are rough, but are they that rough?
LOL, after the ride I have to move the 530 bike computer in order to charge the light. So I let the 530 hang from the lanyard, and charge both the light and 530.
Funny you should say the green was a variation of British racing green, thats kinda what crossed my mind when seeing the pic ![]()
You’ve never been to Scotland then ![]()
Yeah — That green and orange on @mountainrunner ’s new ride is amazing, right? The kids would say it’s sick! Lol. But that doesn’t sound right coming out of me. Lol. Love it!
keep saying sick and savage LOL
Is there a Scotland racing green?
There’s plenty of green, I don’t know if you’d call it racing but the roads are sh1t and you need your Garmin tether.
My mounts (K-Edge and Specialized) are pretty secure, however a button press while going over a bump will partly rotate my 530. Thats only happened a couple times, never ejected.
here ya go:
thats what its made for!
2.33 hours with some intervals and 15 minutes of undergeared work at 100rpm. The usual ride by feel nonsense in flatland:
its flat and boring, what we do for entertainment. And seeing which calves don’t get spooked when zooming past.
Picked up an extra 15 TSS and 20 minutes to mostly makeup for the abridged session yesterday.
The best part was leaving town in 14 minutes because I made all 4 lights at the double overpass, including the elusive left turn because light #3 turned yellow as I passed thru it and stopped all the cars so I could do the 4 lane drift into the left turn lane and like magic it turned green right on cue.
Venus and Jupiter are high in the sky after sunset, can’t miss 'em if you look west. Here is Venus and its reflection in the water:
that one with exposure set at the water, and this one without
should be in the sky for a bit. Enjoy!
That sign? Looks like you found the Mystery Spot in Taiwan!
Cool 25°F this morning for a <9mi ≈50min quickie where essentially all the climbing is done in the first 5mi.
Pic of the bike since I stopped at 6a to phone the boy to make sure he was awake.
For @WindWarrior, the charge point for my lights in the basement:
Thanks. I did spent a bit of time with the painter at his workshop near Thun (nearly a 2hr drive from home) picking out the colors.
It looks like you’re in my backyard! If you have time to meet for a coffee, let me know! I live and work in Neihu.
Mid 40’s in February with reasonable winds and sun? Yes, please!!!
A variation on my usual commute today.
I took advantage of the forecast and used it as an excuse to take the gravel bike out and detour by the secondary A road to grab a tile and avoid a twisty descent through the woods on the country lane. I started of in beautiful sunshine and it was warming up nicely. Climbed the big hill on its single carriageway (with passing places) road that used as a rat run. The rats were very patient though and it was getting sunnier still. The forecast was wrong I thought.
Then I turned to the village by the ‘A’ road, freezing fog. The forecast was right. The garmin probably recorded those temperatures round there ![]()

The A road was a lot better than I expected, a lot less busy than I thought it would be and the majority of drivers very patient. There was a couple of moments when I thought, they were going fast! Sure enough the Varia recorded two at 70mph.

(btw the cars in the first 12mins, circa 40cars never actually passed me, that was when I was cycling on the cycleways next to the dual carriageways out of town).
When I got to town I bypassed the usual log jam by using a bridleway.
I wish I had took a selfie when I got to the office, the beard was solid ice
Strangely I wasn’t cold the new mtb shoes had done their job ![]()
Having took the gravel bike in on the way home I took the bridleway through the woods and nicely got through that just as light was fading (I had a head torch but never needed it ![]()
I was tempted by another bridleway through a field which would have skipped the twisty descent on the single carriage road but light was fading and I decided getting on a crowded commuter train with any more muck probably wasn’t advisable and stuck to the road ![]()
Will do….unfortunatley today and tomorrow are the meaty parts of my trip with lots of meetings / dinners….but let me see how things shake out. ![]()
I’m guessing @KickrLin is familiar with this climb…not certain what the name is, but it was 8.5 miles and 2400 ft of elevation gain.
Lot of fog and mist meant it was kinda damp…a bit chilly at the top and on the descent. Unfortunately, since the roads were so damp, I was very cautious on the way down and couldn’t really let it rip.

Great pics! How warm is it?
mid-60’s in Taipei, but a bit cooler up on the climbs. I put on a vest and arm warmers for the descent and was still a bit chilled on the way down.
But it has been very comfortable overall…and a helluva lot warmer than back home in Chicago!!
Hit 63F here today, low of 34.
