Mine was on the calendar today and I was finally able to get Zwift/TR workouts working normally again.

Again finishing another Tour de Zwift stage.

Well, we’ve arrived at that time of the week where I ask my legs “We’ve done a couple of workouts this week … do you fancy another one? It’s recovery week next week. I’ll even turn the first endurance ride of recovery week into Lazy Mountain -1 if you like.”

The legs seemed keen, so I dropped some 30/30s on to the calendar and told the Type 2s to buckle up.

No problem. I’m quite fast-twitchy, so spinning up above 110rpm for the efforts made these pretty comfortable.

80g of carbs. +4w on my predicted TRAINRFTP (Trainer Road AI Not Really FTP)

Nice job on the 20 minute FTP test.

I guess because I’ve done so many 20 minute test back in the day, I still like that test.

Still do it just not as much as before and always get good training numbers from it.

I’ve even put it down as on of my favorite workouts on TR.

I’ve also been toying with the idea of revisiting the 20’ test. Current AI-FTP is set to normalise the user around a WL 3 for threshold, which I feel is a bit low for me. I’m currently running 3% lower (manually selected), which has over-unders feeling about right. I lose FTP prediction but I don’t mind. I’ll just do the :folded_hands: :crossed_fingers: :pleading_face: when I press the button next, hope it’s higher but not too high, but I have a feeling I could give it two or three more watts next month. I trust that the AI selection will still work despite a different FTP & ALs in different positions, & that’s the most important thing.

A couple of years ago I did the test then a couple of 6’ intervals around my new FTP during an extended cooldown.

Thinking back on that effort it seems like a suitable substitute for the first threshold workout of a block, of course with threshold first in the week. Or 20’ + 2×10. So I may do that every few months, & in between just evaluate the AI-FTP & nudge if it feels appropriate.


Yesterday I dropped Boarstone on the calendar & headed out to do it at the track. On a yellow day after sweetspot + commute + short run on Friday, so decided I was going above & beyond, may need to quit, I didn’t need the accountability of the blue bars, plus it’s an easy workout to remember, so I just did it on my head unit. Was excited at first so rearranged the work periods from MLMHMHM to HMMHMML. Reflected maybe I could’ve done the +2 (shifted up by 5% of FTP) but then thought that might be asking for trouble.
Got off the bike after 2h12 for parkrun, did that, then headed home. Unfortunately neither workout display in TR shows where I paused my head unit. Bug, perhaps. Anyway.
Rest of the ride with the last big climb is heading home.

The group ride was cancelled today. I think it wasn’t as bad as forecasted just one or two showers and constant grey. But TR reccomended after yesterday’s fast group ride an easy day today. What TR didn’t see.

So I decided to have another go at MyWhoosh. It was reading about half of the watts recorded by the pedals last time but I think I just needed to route the pedals bluetooth through the trainer. After doing so there was just 1w between the Garmin and MyWhoosh.

Nothing spectacular tonight just the first workout in my scheduled recovery week. Did it in resistance mode (apart from the cooldown) so I could play with the + and - keys to relieve the monotony.

Needed this workout. Doctor called going to need another surgery on my hand. The CT scan showed the hand will either not heal or will at 40*. So sweet spot to the rescue.

Monadnock -2 today. First VO2 workout of 2026 and boy am I out of practice.

Some added time at the end to complete a Zwift stage. AI FTP Prediction doesn’t like that I see :joy:

Sweetspot 3x25 at 93%

Didn’t accept the AIFTP because I want to keep my sweetspot workouts… sweetspot. Working on sweetspot progression rn - this is my second workout.

Perfect example here, I had Tallac +1 today. I did this on Zwift and looking at the workout steps on the left side of the screen, there a lot of steps and fine tuning for a 3x15 SS workout.

It was ramp up here and ramp down there then ramp up again….
