Now I have a conundrum. Tomorrow I have finally time for a long day in the saddle (5-7h). But would have a VO2 session. Not sure if I do that and then tack on 4-5h of endurance or if I just di endurance and try to fit the 2 intensity days in with shuffling around
Got a late start so it was misting when I started and there was a general drizzle for most of the ride but the temp was close to 70 and I was mostly comfortable for the whole ride. I will say that I now get why all of the UK cyclists on Youtube are all about mud guards. My feet were soaked after 20 minutes from the spray coming off of my frame directly onto my shoes and socks. This was my first real ride in the rain and I really enjoyed it. Sky cleared a bit in the last 45 minutes or so and it was really beautiful.
I basically tested a route to the group ride that is 11 miles away and I usually drive to, looking forward to riding up there next time.
Just electrolytes until two hours in and then caffeine plus about five hundred calories in the last 90 minutes. Was hoping to be productive for the rest of the day and it mostly worked.
Fair amount of traffic and a lot of turns on very wet roads so not as much Z2 as I would like but the whole ride felt great and other than being a little stiff today I feel like I could do the same ride again today no problem.
In my calendar was my first taper workout prior to my A race on Saturday, a low level Threshold workout Muah. At first I tried to run it in parallel with RGT but with either the windows update or RGT update its lost the ability to share the Ant+dongle with TR So I gave up and ran the GCN+ and the Alpes-Maritimes race instead.
Got a drop in ftp from AI FTP detection from 252 to 246. Declined it. . Workouts have been going great, with summer here I have been doing them outside. That could be why it went down? Perhaps I’m not executing well. Here’s todays ride, it’s about as good as I can do 3x8 min and 1x9 min @240. I have missed 3-4 rides this last block too with being out of town, so that could be it too. Going to keep on at 252
Did another Vo2 workout this monday, finally felt good and also was able to get the Breathing and HR where it should be. Power could be a bit better but I’m doing them as hard starts and with high cadence so I just hang on after about 2 minutes, thought about doing 5 instead of 4 intervalls but after the forth I was really spent and thought I leave that for friday.
