Good work there…:![]()
Freeride 60
Sunday: Zwift group ride, no fence, free and encouraged to find a group and ride with it, enjoyable without riders moaning about the flyers.
Tonight it was Stage 1, Tour of Zwift 2022, flat and fast, started way back in the pen but managed to keep power down for duration and pass a thousand and more…another enjoyable session.
Next one will be a steady zone2/3 ride…
I did 115g CHO during the ride. I definitely hadn’t eaten much during the day due to being at the Hospital with my three year old most of it. I had snuck a couple of chocolate bars, but I didn’t want to eat right before the trainer.
Just a short 45 min Zone 2 recovery, Recess-4, ahead of Ramp Test tomorrow.
Easy spin with time to think through pedal stroke for a rounder pedalling force.
Got the fail survey I was expecting tonight after being knocked off my bike by a car driver last Tues, being sat in my car for 5-6 hours yesterday and having done no training since last Sunday. I also got my booster today but I doubt that had any influence, my Thighs are Not Sore and my mobile phone hasn’t been upgraded to 5G
The leg is still stiff but at least its limited to the bruised/sore area which is healing as my NSFW picture testifies
(@mcneese.chad hide it if it breaks forum rules). The real clacky pedaling tonight I think is a sign of that weakness in the left leg ![]()

I went ahead and added the “blur spoiler” option to the pic. Leaves it there, but requires a view to click on it to see the full detail. FYI: That’s something anyone can add via the forum post tools in the list.
Hope you heal up soon. That stuff is no fun.
Continued my VO2 progression. First day for 2 min on 90 sec off. First set went OK but had to backpedal during the second set.
Build phase continues… I swapped out Baird - 1 (PL 3.0) for Border (PL 6.7 - Stretch), which seemed a lot more in line with where I’m at.
Ramp test. went from 195 to 216w. Now 3.97w/kg. Soooooooooo close…
Wright peak -6
week 11 of my 12 week sweet spot training with week 12 being rest. It appears they are throwing the kitchen sink at me.
That was better tonight, then again Eclipse-3 had no Anaerobic stuff. Chad’s recommendations to lower the cadence was a bit of a grind sometimes but manageable. I marked it as hard although it felt more moderate as to protect my leg that was hit by the car last week; after 10 minutes I came out of the TT position. Lol in the middle of the 2nd 20mins block I realised I had shaken the skewer loose on last night’s anaerobic intervals ![]()
Bit better today which was nice.
Still has sore quads and feeling a bit more out of breath/higher HR than I’d expect of prefer for the effort/Power.
I’ve got a couple of key, MTB rides this weekend so might do an easy ride tomorrow and hope that the body is on the rebound.
Winter group workouts have begun for me and some friends.
We’re hoping to get to Mallorca in May after having trips cancelled in 2020 and 2021!
First workout after a rest week. Nice sweet spot to up the progression level. Then threshold work with Fang mountain-3 up next, not a big fan of ascending peaks so will be happy to get the one behind me.
Same as heading to Mallorca in April, nice to have something in the calendar to train for. Hope you get there this time ![]()
Saddle Mountain. Should have done it yesterday but a day’s work of shifting several tonnes of stone left me feeling a bit tired (dunno why?
) so did it this morning before breakfast.
Another really easy VO2max workout. I’m following the 6wk Polarised Plan and basically the remaining VO2max workouts are the same but with reducing rest intervals. The hard part was the 19 minutes of noodling along at the end!
