What workout did you do today? (2021, part 2)

Stromlo +2

40 minutes at threshold, albeit 5x8. Given the previous threshold workouts were at 105%, 102% seemed relatively “easy” in that I marked this workout Hard vice Very Hard. Guess AT knows what it is doing after all.

VO2 Block Session 3 of 9

I’m not sure that Borders was the right one but it sort of fit the best for me to do at work. Seemed to get my breathing and HR up so hopefully building on what I’ve done/have to come.

2x30 Sweet Spot @ 90%. Those last 10 minutes felt this threshold!

Warlow +1

TBH, I was a little scared of this one. Over/unders and I generally don’t get along and these unders were at 98%, but it went well. Definitely a Hard workout, and maybe I could have done another set … maybe.

Again, AT seems to know what it is doing. Plus intervals.icu thinks my eFTP is a few percentage higher so maybe these were closer to 95/107 instead of 98/110. :man_shrugging:

obviously not a TR workout, but today’s ride.

15min @ 315w to warm up and get rid of a little glycogen
20min hard
5 min easy
some intervals on a hill loop – 2 x 4min and 2 x 3min @ 370w
then just riding

That’s a solid effort there dude :muscle:t2::muscle:t2:

Hunter -2

Glad that one is done. It wasn’t physically taxing (basically 3 x 20 @ 90%) but my legs are quite fatigued since this is the last workout in the first three-week block of Century Specialty. Having done a century on Monday, too, my TSS for the week is 35% higher than my six week average, which just reaffirms my legs’ rights to be tired. Looking forward to recovery week.

2+ hours of endurance courtesy of 10 laps around a local reservoir. If I did this on the trainer it sound feel 7 hours long but this effort felt like 45 minutes in the dungeon. I need to training rides outside much more often!

Solid two days of training this weekend…

Saturday = bike

Sunday = swim and long run

Very good for your triathlon training

VO2 Block Session 4/9

Definitely felt the fatigue getting in the way of maximising the stimulus. Set a new 3min PB on the first one and still got reasonably good VO2 response the rest but not what I had hoped for.

Pretty stout ride though and with the MTB straight after I’ll have to be careful for Wednesday and Thursday (Sessions 5 and 6)!

Yep, I have a 70.3 and full I’m next year plus a few shorter races.

Pinnacle +3 Today

Definitely benefited from coming off a rest day for this one, and I’m stoked to knock it out. Started to struggle at the end (cadence steadily dipped lower and lower), but really pleased with how it felt overall. My trainer bike is in need of some love, but the upside is the gearing I’m stuck using doesn’t let me stand and grind and forces me to at least me to stay honest on my goal of keeping a cadence at least in the 90s (you can see the drop out when I tried to stand up and the trainer didn’t like it). It also helps simulate how it feels to climb since the flywheel speed is relatively low.

My season timings are all over the place, but excited to finish up this hybrid threshold block and hit up a few weeks of vo2 max before sliding into proper base in December with some additional central adaptations to help boost next years power up another step.

That looks like a brute! Good work!!

VO2 Block Session 5/9

That one was a bit of a miss possibly. Just a bit much fatigue from my MTB ride Monday and the cumulative effect of the block.

Hopefully I can recover with some very easy noodling on the trainer and some carbs now in order to be ready to go again to do my Friday session tomorrow (Thursday :grimacing::crossed_fingers:).

Today is my strength day. Squats, Deadlifts, Bulgarian Split Squats, Calf raises, Pullups, Bench Press, Overhead Press, Dumbell Upper Back.
Having done a cross country trip this summer, I’m trying to establish some overall strength

Got bored, so called it a day (marked it time constraint as bored wasn’t an option ) and went for a slow 90min 12km trail run in the rain.

Going to have a go a some threshold work tonight which will hopefully be more interesting…

Now that they have finally reopened the gym in my building, I’m going to try to do more workouts on the commute like I used to in the Before Times. This one was perfect, in that the intervals were 4 minutes long and I have a nice section of lightly used trail that takes me 5 minutes from end to end.

Gendarme +10

Hard vo2 session but never felt like i wasn’t going to complete it. Do really feel the legs now after doing Galena +1 (3x 20@95) yesterday.

VO2 Block Session 6/9

Definitely feeling the effects of fatigue…
