Highland +1
My longest ride so far without any stops at all. I ate one banana and drank barely 2 bottles with some carb mix. Now I’m about to eat all the carbs I can find.
15 minute warmup followed by Fang Mountain +3 (originally scheduled) the immediately followed it up with additional Andrews. Under-fueled by about 50 grams of carbs I think…womp womp.
Wow! 5 hours?!! Nice work!
Happy with this after an FTP bump from 207 to 213 earlier in the week. I think the 9 minute recoveries were quite forgiving.
Nice and varied Sweetspot session. Watched Pete and Jonathan race a couple of crits. Felt good, following yesterday’s endurance workout
In a round about way, I did Juneau -1 today.
Unfortunately the TR iPad app froze sometime into the 2nd half of the first interval whilst I was distracted by TDZ Stage 5 that I had running concurrently. It seemed as though, even as the app was frozen, it keep the power stable so I managed to relaunch the app and start again. I couldn’t face doing the whole thing so competed to the end of the third interval in an attempt to get as much work done as I should of.
Luckily having Zwift running meant I could record it as a single ride and all seemed to work out ok
Legs feels pretty beat up now after this and Carpathian Peak +2 yesterday. Will be spending sometime with the massage gun this afternoon!
It was positive temperatures by lunchtime but the local weather station recorded -6deg C at 9am so I opted to do my TR calendar work out, Hunter. Decided to liven the 2hours up a bit by running TR on the tablet controlling the turbo of the power meter, and RGT in parallel on the PC/Phone reading the power meter alone.
Doh, you can see when I jumped off the turbo in the middle of the first interval when the the fan fell off the desk.
This maybe shows how much of a nonsense speed is on turbo. TR calculates circa 9miles more (or 19.6mph), based on the speed of the freewheel compared to the 30miles at 15.5mph on RGT based on I believe a calculation of power to weight reIative to the virtual terrain.
Friday was a quick ride to end the work day, just 35 min, 20 at Z2, then 15 at SS
Yesterday was Junction -1. Good workout, bumped it to 101% for the second 3x5 set, but left it at 100% otherwise. Finished off the evening with wine, nice, big steaks, and a watching of Lord of the Rings.
Today was 2.5 hours of Z2 on the rollers, Rouvy route in the background, and watched The Flying Scotsman as well, good movie about Graeme Obree.
Last tough weekend of SSB I MV. Should’ve done this yesterday but had too much to drink on Friday eve I probably didn’t approach this properly, I was a bit blasé after a good week and didnt settle into it very well. My cadence was quite low and on the 3rd piece of set 3 I had an erg mode low cadence death spiral. I took about 15s break and finished the thing. I’ll do Galena tomorrow or Tues and then take my rest
Stepped up from :45 to a full hour today. I’ll have to see how the body handles that as the week goes on – usually the impact doesn’t hit for a couple of days.
I did a 3100 meter swim workout followed by Spruce Knob (1:30 with 2x30’ at 85% FTP on Elite quick motion rollers), then a 6.5 mile run 7:57/mile ave pace (pushed last mile to 7:25). Now I’m tired, dehydrated and eating pizza
Weather too bad to bring this outdoors. Got through two movies but time flew for once. Followed it up with a 30min run.
Palisade for me today:
Did well. Needed a 30 second break after the fourth interval for arseache and took a planned break after the fourth for fuel and fluid level adjustment. Did well, pleased with this one.
Antelope +5 today. Funny enough two other guys I follow are on the same short power build plan so we are doing the same workouts every day. One thing I noticed is especially today their HR was way higher today than mine as a % of Max and kept climbing higher each block where mine leveled out
The only difference is I did TB MV and they did some sweet spot base and outside free riding or no real plan before build. Lesson: don’t sleep on the base phase
