Monadnock +6 last night. It felt…easy? I was working hard but never really had the “might not make it” feeling. Just starting the 3rd week of General Build HV (first TR cycle, high volume), I my ramp test earlier and had a free Tuesday in the first week. Decided to copy Shortoff +6 from Week 2. Failed that. Next week, completed Shortoff +6 but was a bit under target on some of the intervals. Today was over target power on every interval and felt like I could’ve done even more. Am I getting used to VO2 or is 5 minutes @ 110% much easier than 3 minutes at 115-120%?
Clark. 90 min sweetspot or threshold workouts have been my nemesis. Back pedalled a bit the last 2 rest periods but got through it. I know I don’t have too long if my pulse goes above 160, but here it came back down some.
quick gravel loop in Arkansas, across the Mississippi from Memphis, before Iowa Wind and Rock on Saturday: 340 miles of gravel!
Talk about having trouble to stay in z2!
Gave a unit of blood yesterday so i knew my numbers would be too high… oh well, i guess it helps me be more efficient with my oxygen usage?
First real workout of SSB1MV2.0. About 30W higher than November and burned about 75 more kJ in the hour. That’ll be fun to compare as I go back through… marked, measurable progress.
Inspired by the Pettit &Baxter are boring rides thread, I did Maclure. Felt great when done.
OMG. 3 hours on the trainer? You sir should try out for the next Buns of Steel video.
I’m a lightweight. There’s a local guy who does a 5-7 hour trainer rides at 215 W.
My tweaked version of Carson +1
Nice, steady Sweet Spot intervals which allowed me to work on my cadence.
Hit up a double session today. Group ride in the am, race pace and team tactics then in the afternoon worked on some sprints with Guard -4
carson today on empty stomach. now huge porridge with banana and peanut butter. the best!
my power line makes me jealous of the pretty ones from people with electronic trainers though.
It’s ok, we just have wiggly cadence instead.
So today was Mount Baldy +1 for me Century speciality week 2 LV
It went … Awfully … Started the session very fatigued given that I’ve worked 18 days in a row without a day off… I had actually missed two sessions during the week due to being in work for 14 + hours back to back… I managed 21 minutes before i had to call it quits. Turning down intensity wasnt an option as I ended up dry wretching.
Oh well… Time to get some rest over the weekend and try again
I participated in a cycling and nutrition study at a local university program. It was a 1hr at lactate threshold (via the old Velotron). I would estimate my TSS to be around 70.
This was a couple weeks ago but first MTB ride of the year out here in NYC. First ride with a power meter as well. My upper body is way out of shape but I haven’t been this fit this time of year or maybe ever, at least since I’ve been back on the bike. The proof is in the pudding. Thanks TR!
Augusta - urgh.
Bad news: didn’t really finish this, did I?
Good news: Powermatch on the new Neo and Stages L crank felt great!
4x5min low cadence zone 3 followed by 4 10sec max sprints with 50s recovery between.
I’m racing on Sunday.
