a ânewerâ Ipad, I donât remember which gen but in the last couple of years. The fam is all in on the apple infrastructure, so never really considered Android.
I have an iPad Pro from 2018. Use it all day at work and for TR in the morning (also typing on it now). It sits on a desk in front of the bike, and I run YouTube on my computer on a larger screen that sits right above the iPad.
I put the new liquid glass beta on my 2 year old iPad and the display looks great to me. I would go with a new iPad if I was shopping for a new tablet.
Note: I own apple stock
Note the word âmy phoneâ. Youâd be right about phones. But Android has never had a good tablet story as an OS, whereas you can get cheap, fast iPads starting from $/âŹ300ish, which will last years. My wifeâs first-gen 13" iPad Pro is 10 years old and still works. The only thing thatâs gotten really bad is the battery and that it has not received any software updates for some years.
My iPad hasnât had an update either as there isnât enough disk space and I have removed almost 99% of all apps on it ! I hear what you are saying, my Android is slow, but it gets updated regularly (
I use my iPhone for my TR workouts as a display. I have a phone case that has a Garmin mount stuck on and it sits in my out front mount. Very convenient.
iPad for Netflix, YouTube, etc.
AirPod Proâs for the sound. These are great with the noise cancelling and other features.
The iPad Pro is from 2015, and Iâm not aware of Android devices receiving OS feature updates for that long. Last time a family member was in the market for an Android phone, the promised duration of feature updates was the main discussion point (I had suggested a former flagship phone over a ânewâ entry-level phone, both were sold at roughly the same price).
Developers are going to prioritize iPad over Android tablet support. All my Android phone experiences have been great, Android tablet experiences have sucked. An old iPad is dirt cheap and still functional/supported. New entry level iPads are cheap and perfectly good.
I use an 11" M1 iPad Pro for TR (and everything tablet).
I run TR on a 2018 iPad Pro. Works perfectly. I still plug it in on 3+ hr rides to be safe, but on the times I donât, it appears it could last 5-6 hrs running TR.
I use the iPad for work throughout the day and internet surfing. Itâs been great and when the time comes, Iâll be confident replacing it knowing I got more than expected use from it.
Iâve been using a mid-tier android tablet the last four years. The tablet was, and still is, well within the minimum requirements for running TR, but it as been a slow and lagging experience since day one.
Iâm buying a new iPad this week to be ready for the upcoming indoor season. Hopefully Iâm back to a seamless experience running TR.
I went for the 13âiPad in the end, I got a great online deal on a returned item around about 30% off list price. Very happy with the performance so far
