Chocolate cookies, Theakston’s Old Peculiar real ale, Salted caramel ice cream, good coffee, an evening with my partner and the feeling at the end of a flat out TT knowing that you can stop the pain and head back to the HQ for a coffee, good conversation and a big piece of cake ![]()
Oh so many things!
- A smooth patch of road.
- The heat of the sun on my back as I ride.
- Hanging out with my family. The boys are 11 and 15 and we spend a ton of time with them. It’s all going way too fast…
I thought you meant the computer. Dang.
-
Finally getting some healing on my tennis elbow after 2 long years of no progress
-
Listening to some 70’s funk records on my stereo
-
Riding bikes with my Dad, who will turn 80 next February. He’s still putting miles in on his carbon Trek road bike.
-
Spending time with my son this summer, before he leaves for college this fall. Time is going by too quick!!
-
Washing and waxing my car
When I come home and see my partner and my cat
WOW! Those colours. Mornings like this make me smile.
- Freshly laid Tarmac on rolling country roads
- Baking homemade french fries with my husband
- An oat milk latte
- That ‘exhausted yet accomplished’ feeling in your chest all morning after a hard ride or run
- Watching Wisconsin turn from dull brown to vibrant green in the springtime.
-
Riding in beautiful surroundings
-
The sound and feel of the perfect gearshift
-
Good food, wine and coffee
-
Spending time with my daughter
-
Getting the all-clear from a recent health scare
I’m glad there’s a response like this in here. I can think of things that give me a feeling of satisfaction but I can’t think of anything that really makes me happy. Closest I can think of is genuinely helping my close friends.
- Getting out in the cool early-morning sun for a long ride
- Spotting a bunch of different baby animals during spring rides
- Getting a workout done early so you have the remaining weekend day left to spend with friends/family
- The moment a hard tailwind lines up with your speed and there’s nothing but the sound of your tires on the tarmac
I don’t know your dog, but I already love him
Lying in a meadow full of wild flowers and watching fluffy clouds float above.
Re: “washing and waxing my car”… this resonates. There is a strange satisfaction that comes from vacuuming my car from all the dirt and pet hair and granola bar crumbs and the list goes on and on…
Pizza… Pizza makes me happy.
I eat pizza because im fat
im fat because I eat pizza

Since COVID started my normal forested lake running loop was made a one way. In the past 6 months it was made “Free-4-All” again. I was trying to be courteous to others and just avoided the trail all together since it is narrow.
I recently decided to start using it again and it has become a game changer for my mental self
My daughter, her hugs and the way she looks at me as her hero. It might change when she is a teen but taking advantage now. Also, family, my hometown and a few best friends.
A few life changes over the past few years (non covid related fortunately) has made me realize how important not to take anything for granted.
- This is a key reason behind why I started this topic. Making my own review was a start, but reading the variety and depth of those for everyone else sure helps see things better with that different perspective.

When I have a question that @mcneese.chad finds and answers = Pure gold ![]()
That point when you hit your goal weight and ace that hard climb you hate after making a comeback from sitting on the couch eating potato chips and watching TV for 9 months.
Watching my grandson piss off his parents - Revenge is sweet
My dog’s smiling face always made me happy. Nothing like a full body wag to greet you after a long day at work. Sadly, he’s been gone coming up on a year now. Currently, I’m having a blast training my boss for her first Ironman. 18 months ago she was overweight and had high blood pressure. Now she’s done olympic and half distance tri’s, a half marathon, multiple fondos at 50-70 miles. It’s been a blast guiding her on her journey. My proudest moment was when she walked into the clinic the day after her half distance and declared “I need a new bike”.
