What makes you cringe?

There probably already exists a topic on this, but I’ll start a new conversation anyway.

So often I see people do thinks that make me think “OH GOD, PLEASE NO!”. So my question for you is what makes you cringe when you see people do it. And why?

I’ll get you started:

  1. Fasted recovery rides: this is just a way to dig yourself into a (deep) hole. Recovery rides shouldn’t induce the slightest bit of stress/fatigue. But as you probably know, since you’re on this forum, fasted training is very stressful. Recovery is an anabolic proces where you rest and rebuild glycogen stores. IMO people who do this, just want to justify eating, but there is no need to do this. People don’t need to deserve food, you need to eat, even if you hang on the sofa all day!!

  2. Lubricating the cassette: There is no need to lubricate the cassette. Although it spins, it isn’t considered a moving part. Only moving parts need lubrication.

  3. Openers: I live by the saying: “openers are a privilige of the well rested”. So it makes me cringe when I see people doing openers or pre-race efforts, even though the’ve been doing intervals all week.

Anyway, I think this thread could be a nice place to rant about stuff without feeling guilty. By highlighting these things, we can all learn from eachother.
