Pretty much any hard over/under or long threshold intervals where you were way too optimistic of what your FTP actually is. Always turns into a death spiral of self doubt and pity.
Usually do any VO2 Max intervals after a rest day and recovery day. Certainly need to be fresh and motivated.
On Tuesday Iāve got two sets of 5 x 5ā / 3ā with 4 mins between sets.
I do recover from them pretty well, which I think primarily points to me having a high percentage of slow twitch aerobic fibres.
I think so. While I have left my āI wanna dieā workouts back in my running days, I remember having workouts so hard it left us sprawled out on the track, curled up in a ball barely walking the ācool down.ā
I do think those workouts are good but should be used very sparingly and not in racing season. Unfortunately college back then was survival of the fittest.

I love your enthusiasm! Took me about 15 minutes to create it as a custom workout with the Workout Creator app, using Baxter +2 as a base. Multiplied all durations by 1.5 & added 10% to all levels. Took some liberties to create the VO2 & sprint segments. Unfortunately custom workouts are not share-able unless using the teams feature.
probably this? It was probably the most satisfying to complete at least. 325w for 16 minutes on the last interval, havenāt done that since!

It came in the same week as Spencer + 2 which was my nemesis back in the day. The algorithms will likely never serve me those up again!
This is my hardest workout so far on TR. punching well over threshold and settling back into above threshold is brutal.

If that was from my post, I had Uber Pretzel scheduled for the day before my hip replacement surgery. I was sitting on the trainer and thought that maybe I should be concentrating on centering my mind and getting ready for the stress of the whole production.
In hindsight, I should have said āEf it!!ā and ridden it anyway! I havenāt come close to doing it since, and I really should. Iām not getting any younger, and might as well die in the saddle, right. ![]()
